People are left horrified by what was inside the Oscars snack box
People have been left with some strong opinions after seeing what the Oscars snack boxes - which were given to all attendees - actually contained.
The 98th Academy Awards Ceremony featured stars of Hollywood celebrating the best of the latest movies, all while serving Hollywood glamor in their best gowns and tuxedos.
However, one person captured a snack box that attendees were given, which seemingly failed to match the rest of one of Hollywood’s most famous nights, and instead left people horrified.
This would cost almost $100 at a movie theater
The luxury box that was coated in gold contained a bag of original popcorn, Raisinets dark chocolate and a bottle of still water.
The video revealing this was uploaded to X (formerly Twitter), by Justine Manocherian, from American monthly women's fashion magazine, InStyle, where she appeared pleased with the contents - a stark contrast from people online.
Inside the box was also a reminder for attendees to hold up their bracelets as well as a welcome note from Oscars host Conan O’Brien.
The host wrote to guests labelling the box as a ‘modestly Happy Meal’ where he stated that the three items “in any movie theater they would run you $85”. An extortionate cost for what would be significantly cheaper elsewhere.
People alarmed at the price of the Oscars snack box
Thousands of people flocked to the clip after it was posted online where it garnered over 1.3 millions views.
People online highlighted that multi-millionaires were in attendance where the box that was served was too ‘basic for a big event as the Oscars’, remarked one user while another joked that the Oscars was on a budget - despite the mouthwatering net worth of attendees.
The pitiful snacks that were handed out were labelled as some of the ‘trashiest snacks known to man’ and pictures later appeared to reveal many barely touched boxes left by guests.
Not everyone saw something wrong with the box, with some understanding what was inside.
Somebody online remarked that there isn't a need for the Oscars to be dishing out expensive, lavish food when most people attending are millionaires. However, this viewpoint remained in the minority compared to the hundreds who were left disappointed.
Away from the snacks, One Battle After Another, a 2025 drama/action thriller starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Sean Penn, stole the headlines after swooping up six gongs, including Best Picture and Best Director - Paul Thomas Anderson
There was also joy for basketball legend Michael B Jordan who won his first Academy Award for Best Actor in his leading role of Sinners, a horror/action movie released last year.
Sinners also won a further three more Oscars - swopping up awards for Best Original Screenplay, Best Cinematography for Autumn Durald Arkapaw, and Best Original Score for Ludwig Göransson.
