Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker has addressed her co-star Willie Garson's death for the first time.
The actor - who was known for playing Carrie Bradshaw's sidekick Stanford Blatch - died aged 57, as was reported on Tuesday (September 21).
Fellow Sex and the City actor, Chris Noth, took to Instagram to pay tribute to Garson. He simply captioned the photo, "Willie".
Parker, who had not yet publically responded to her friend's death, commented, "Thank you dearest Chris. I'm not ready yet. Xxx."
Garson's son, Nathen, announced his father's death on Instagram. "I love you so much papa. Rest In Peace and I'm so glad you got to share all your adventures with me and were able to accomplish so much," he wrote on Tuesday. "I'm so proud of you. I will always love you, but I think it's time for you to go on an adventure of your own."
"You'll always be with me. Love you more than you will ever know and I'm glad you can be at peace now. You always were the toughest and funniest and smartest person I've known. I'm glad you shared [your] love with me. I'll never forget it or lose it."
According to People, Garson — who had film roles in Freaky Friday and Groundhog Day — passed away following a short illness.
The executive producer of the HBO series, Michael Patrick King, released a statement on Tuesday that confirmed that Garson had been unwell.
"The Sex and the City family has lost one of its own. Our amazing Willie Garson," King said. "His spirit and his dedication to his craft was present every day filming And Just Like That.
"He was there – giving us his all – even while he was sick. His multitude of gifts as an actor and person will be missed by everyone. In this sad, dark moment we are comforted by our memory of his joy and light."
Many of Garson's Sex and the City co-stars have taken to social media to honor the actor.
Cynthia Nixon — who played Miranda Hobbes — tweeted: "So deeply, deeply sad we have lost @WillieGarson. We all loved him and adored working with him. He was endlessly funny on-screen and in real life. He was a source of light, friendship and show business lore. He was a consummate professional — always."
Kim Cattrall - who played Samantha Jones on the hit sitcom - also shared a snap of her and Garson. "Such sad news and a terribly sad loss to the SATC family," she wrote. "Our condolences and RIP dear Willie xo."
"He was smarter and funnier than you ever would have imagined. We are bereft without him," Kristen Davis, who played Charlotte York, corroborated.
"But I really want to pay tribute to his fearless commitment to single fatherhood. We spoke about being single parents through adoption often. And nothing gave him more joy and pride than his son Nathen. Nathen’s strength and wisdom beyond his years are evident in his beautiful tribute to his dad. The outpouring of love is earned dear Willie."

This comes after Garson was spotted filming with Sarah Jessica Parker in July for the upcoming Sex and the City reunion, And Just Like That.
Despite playing an openly gay character on Sex and the City, Garson identified as straight, and was actually set up on a date with his co-star, Parker, years before they starred in Sex and the City. He told Out Magazine back in 2000 that he and Parker "settled into being best friends, something I think really reads on the show."

Willie Garson's cause of death has been publicly confirmed.
The actor, who was best known for playing Carrie Bradshaw's sidekick, Stanford Blatch, in Sex and the City, died aged 57, per his son, Nathen Garson.
Garson - who was also known for his role as Mozzie on USA Network series White Collar - died from pancreatic cancer, his loved ones said in his obituary published in The New York Times on Thursday, September 23.
In the touching obituary, his family wrote that they always knew he was destined to act, adding that "nothing could better describe" the actor than the term "working actor."
"A working actor has been defined as 'an actor who while never achieving stardom, has a long and productive career and earns a better than decent living and has the admiration of his peers,'" the obituary reads.
"Nothing could better describe Garson. For the last four decades, he appeared in over 300 television shows and over 70 films."
In addition to his expansive filmography, Garson also acted in theater productions across the country, working with companies including Naked Angels, Manhattan Theatre Club, Roundabout Theatre Company, and the Geffen Playhouse.
"Garson was a ubiquitous presence in American pop culture," his loved ones wrote.
They continued: "He could be a classmate of Michael J. Fox on Family Ties or a waiter on a Cheers episode, or L. Harvey Oswald in an independent film Ruby or Bill Murray's assistant in Groundhog Day. He could just as easily be a TV executive in Soapdish as a man with mysterious luck in The X-Files as the president of an apartment board on Friends."
Garson's death was announced by his son, who took to Instagram to share touching images of his beloved father.
"I love you so much papa. Rest In Peace and I'm so glad you got to share all your adventures with me and were able to accomplish so much. I'm so proud of you. I will always love you, but I think it's time for you to go on an adventure of your own," his son Nathen wrote alongside the images.

While Sex and the City hailed a new age for women's sexual liberation, alongside focusing on female friendships - a narrative that is often neglected in portrayals of women in film and television - it appears that the actors behind the cult HBO television show weren't so chummy off-set. Far from being the brunch buddies that we have come to know and love, the real-life counterparts of Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbes, Samantha Jones and Charlotte York reportedly had strained relationships - but judging by last week's media storm, no one as Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall.
One of Parker's Divorce co-stars has jumped to her defence, after she was branded as "cruel" by Cattrall in a biting Instagram post that publicly disparaged her co-star for a message sent after the passing of her brother, Chris.
Kim Cattrall's 55-year-old brother, Christopher, went missing earlier this month and was later found dead on his rural properly in Alberta, Canada, according to local law enforcement. After his death was announced, the actor took to Instagram to thank her fans and co-stars for their support. "I would like to thank my fans, friends, and my #SexandtheCity colleagues for the outpouring of support for myself and family over the past 72 hours," Cattrall wrote.

This message was evidently not aimed at one former co-worker, however. Later, Cattrall, who played Samantha Jones in Sex and the City, posted an image on Instagram which read: "I don't need your love or support at this tragic time @sarahjessicaparker."
"My mom asked me today 'When will that @sarahjessicaparker, that hypocrite, leave you alone?'," Cattrall wrote in the caption of the photo. "Your continuous reaching out is a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now. Let me make this VERY clear. (If I haven't already) You are not my family. You are not my friend. So I'm writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your 'nice girl' persona."
Parker, who bagged the lead role of Carrie Bradshaw 19 years prior, had, after Cattrall's first post, posted on social media, writing "Dearest Kim, my love and condolences to you and yours and Godspeed to your beloved brother. Xx."

However, Molly Shannon, who plays alongside Parker on the HBO series Divorce, has leapt to her defence, deeming her "Hollywood royalty", and countering Cattrall's claim that she was "cruel".
"I didn't read about that but I know, for me, Sarah is just so supportive and so wonderful and we just get along so well," Shannon said on Entertainment Tonight.
Returning to Divorce, she continued "It doesn't really feel like work because we have so much in common, and she loves funny women and is just so genuinely supportive and kind, and, like, a girls' girl"
As can be expected, fans, as well as the cast and crew of Sex and the City, were taken aback by Cattrall's assertion. Parker, herself, has historically countered claims that there was tension on-set. In an interview with Howard Stern in 2016, the 52-year-old stated, "It used to really confound me and really upset me because we were part of a family of 'Sopranos' and nobody ever questioned the relationships of the men on that show."
"No one ever said to them 'Did you hang out this weekend with each other?" or 'Did you give each other Christmas presents?'" she added.
However, a rather different picture is painted in the article that Cattrall linked to in her scathing Instagram post. The piece, entitled Inside the Mean-Girls Culture that Destroyed 'Sex and the City', argues that Cattrall has, on multiple occasions, been strategically portrayed as the "villain" by her fellow actors.
The article reports that not only was Cattrall repeatedly left out by her colleagues - who quickly formed a tight bond - but that she was also wrongly cited as the reason why Sex and the City 3 fell through. Cattrall's purportedly "unreasonable" salary demands became front-page news after Sarah Jessica Parker took to Instagram to speak of her "disappointment" that the feature wasn't going ahead.
In response to the rumours, Cattrall spoke to British journalist and television personality, Piers Morgan. "The answer was always no," Cattrall said. "I never asked for any money, I never asked for any projects. To be thought of as some kind of diva is ridiculous."
She then informed Morgan that she doesn't know when she last spoke to her co-stars, and that no one reached out when reports started circulating about her holding up the venture.
"Nobody ever picks up the phone and tries to contact you and say, ‘How you doing?’ That would have been the way to handle it. This is, it feels like, a toxic relationship.
"The common ground that we had was the series and the series is over. Sarah Jessica, she could have been nicer, she could have in some way. I don’t know what her issue is, I never have."

Sex And The City star Sarah Jessica Parker has slammed agist reactions to the iconic sitcom's revival as "misogynist chatter".
In an interview with Vogue, 56-year-old Parker said: "There’s so much misogynist chatter in response to us that would never. Happen. About. A. Man."
Set to air on HBO next month, the 10-episode reboot - titled 'And Just Like That...' - will follow Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte as they navigate life and friendship in their 50s. While many fans were thrilled about the revival, others took to social media to wonder why it was returning over two decades since the pilot first aired.
"[On social media] everyone has something to say. 'She has too many wrinkles, she doesn’t have enough wrinkles,'" Parker told Vogue.
"I know what I look like. I have no choice. What am I going to do about it? Stop aging? Disappear?”
As well as tackling ageism in the entertainment industry, 'And Just Like That...' will also aim to rectify the less than diverse casting that was criticized in the original show. Sara Ramirez, Karen Pittman, and Nicole Ari Parker will join the cast to better reflect New York City's real-life diversity.
Meanwhile, familiar faces Chris Noth, Mario Cantone, David Eigenberg, Evan Handler, and Willie Garson (who recently died from pancreatic cancer) will be reprising their original roles.
One big name that fans will notice absent from the series is SATC favorite, Kim Cattrall.
Per BBC News, Cattrall - who played Samantha on the show - revealed back in 2017 that she had "never been friends" with the show's main stars.
Speaking on Piers Morgan's Life Stories, Cattrall revealed: "We've never been friends. We've been colleagues and in some ways it's a very healthy place to be because then you have a clear line between your professional life and relationship and your personal."
Cattrall went on to criticize Jessica Parker for how she had been portrayed as a "diva" in the media, telling Morgan: "This is really where I take to task the people from Sex and the City and specifically Sarah Jessica Parker, is that I think she could have been nicer. I really think she could have been nicer. I don't know what her issue is.
"The thing that still bothers me is this feeling of being in some way made to be the baddie. I never asked for any money, I never asked for any projects, to be thought of as some kind of diva is absolutely ridiculous."
Despite turning down the role, 65-year-old Cattrall will be starring in the upcoming Hulu series, How I Met Your Father, playing the older version of Hilary Duff's character, Sophie.
