DC's Supergirl has officially been released in cinemas over the weekend, with the long-awaited superhero title being available to watch since Friday (June 26).
While many have been eager to see how Australian actress Milly Alcock portrays the young, troubled character who goes on an intergalactic journey, it's an off-screen factor grabbing the attention of fans.
As part of the latest title in the expanding DCU film franchise, a slew of merchandise linked to the film has been released in cinemas across the world.
This includes one cup, which appears to have an X-rated feature that has left viewers shocked enough to post snaps of the odd-looking item on social media.
The viral item was designed by AMC, and while very similar to the Superman cup, which was released alongside the film in 2025, this new addition has included an interesting accessory to mimic Kara Zor-El (Supergirl) in her iconic suit.
According to fans, the new flesh-colored jacket cup looks like - and there's no other way of putting this - a penis, when seen from both its side and behind.
If we're getting specific, the internet claims that it looks like foreskin, as many users took to X to post snaps of the cup and share their thoughts on it.
One user wrote: "You guys, I'm at the movies and I just got bullied into buying the supergirl foreskin cup I don’t know how to say no I’m f***ing sobbing what the F***."
Another penned: "Clearly they were going for Supergirl on her tan jacket. But it does NOT come off like that."
A third asked: "Why does my Supergirl cup have a foreskin?!?!"
A different user added: "It’d be fine if they left off the foreskin-looking jacket," while another asked: "Is that Silly Putty or foreskin?"
Others seemed to see the funny side, taking photos of their cups with their front cameras, as one of these jokesters penned: "Coke Zero never tasted as good as it did coming out of the Supergirl cup."
With that being said, numerous disgruntled fans wanted to know how this was green-lit, simply describing the design as "bad," while some non-DC fans suggested that it was the best promo the movie had gotten so far.
The cup went so viral, in fact, that the stars of Supergirl were shown the design and asked what they thought.
Entertainment Tonight showed the cup to Superman star David Corenswet during a recent red carpet appearance, asking what he thought of it.
He admitted: "I don’t like that one bit… I don’t understand, and I don’t think I want it explained."
Nicolas Hoult, who plays Lex Luthor opposite the titular hero, joked: "I need a lot of those."
"It reminds me of…" the British actor went on, before Corenswet put a stop to his suggestion, saying: "No, no no no no."
Supergirl is out in cinemas now.

David Corenswet confronted a photographer who put their hand on co-star Milly Alcock during a red carpet appearance.
The incident took place at the Supergirl world premiere on Monday, June 22, in New York City.
The highly anticipated spin-off sees Alcock star as Kara Zor-El, Superman's cousin, after making her debut in a cameo appearance alongside Corenswet in 2025's Superman.
Corenswet reprises his role as Clark Kent, while the cast also includes Nicholas Hoult, Rachel Brosnahan, Jason Momoa, Eve Ridley, and Matthias Schoenaerts.
Footage circulating on X shows a photographer placing a hand on Alcock's back, seemingly trying to move her so photographers could get a better shot of Corenswet.
The 32-year-old immediately broke away from a conversation he was having with his castmates and appeared to exchange words with the photographer.
The clip quickly went viral after being shared by DiscussingFilm, amassing 4.2 million views and 110K likes as of the time of writing.
Many viewers were quick to slam the photographer and praise the actor for stepping in.
"I'll never understand why these photographers feel they have any right to touch these people," one social media user wrote.
Another added: "David Corenswet just turned into a real life superhero there. Hats off to him, that was an honorable and gentlemanly move."
A third commented: "Yeah like why you touching someone that’s so weird."
The 26-year-old, who rose to prominence playing the younger version of Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of the Dragon, has previously opened up about the pressures that come with being a woman in the spotlight.
Alcock spoke to Vanity Fair earlier this year about transitioning from the Game of Thrones universe to the world of DC superheroes. She also reflected on the scrutiny female performers often face.
"It definitely made me aware that simply existing as a woman in that space is something that people comment on. We have become very comfortable having this weird ownership of women’s bodies," she said. "I can’t really stop them. I can only be myself."
She also shared her perspective on her version of Supergirl, saying: "She’s not trying to save the world - she’s just trying to save her own. This film is an excellent reminder that the world can be crumbling around you, but you can be the hero of your own story."
The Australian-born actress has already received praise from those involved with her upcoming movie.
Speaking to Variety, co-producer Peter Safran recalled the reaction after Alcock's audition.
"Everybody had tears in their eyes," he said. "She wears her heart on her sleeve; she brings so much emotion to the role. We all looked at each other and said, 'This is absolutely perfect. She’s exactly what we want.'"
Screenwriter Ana Nogueira agreed, adding: "We had really good actresses come in - like, people that gave great auditions. It’s not even really about that? It’s just like, Milly’s the girl."
You can watch Supergirl in theaters on June 26.
The superhero genre is pretty prolific as of 2018. Movies in Marvel's cinematic universe, like this year's Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War, have been breaking box office records, and it seems that every other comic book character is making their way onto the big screen, with San Diego Comic Con debuting trailers for the upcoming DC films Shazam and Aquaman.
It's not just the movies that are successfully bringing comic superheroes to life, however. DC in particular have seen plenty of success with their interconnected shows Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl.

Supergirl stars Melissa Benoist as Kara, Superman's cousin and one of the last survivors of their doomed planet, Krypton. The show made an appearance at Comic Con this week to talk about the show's upcoming fourth season, where they announced the introduction of a new character.
Nia Nal will be introduced as an employee of Catco Worldwide Media, an organisation that is central to the show, but she will later become known as 'Dreamer'.

But that's not the noteworthy part of the story. What many have latched onto as this announcement dropped, is that Nal will be a trans character - to be played by trans activist and actor Nicole Maines. "It seems only fitting that we have a trans superhero for trans kids to look up to," she said after the announcement.

The character, who is drescribed as "a soulful young transgender woman with a fierce drive to protect others," will be the first-ever trans superhero in a TV show - and it's not as if there's any representation of the community on the big screen either.

Speaking to Variety, Maines said:
"I want fans to take away an understanding of trans people. We can be anybody, we can be who we want, we can be superheroes - because in many ways we are.
"Nia is so much more than just a trans superhero. She is a reporter, she is hopeful, she's powerful, wise and such a good friend."

Asked about how this role relates to representation of trans people in television, Maines opened up about what she hopes to see in the future.
“I think we’re in a time right now where more than ever representation in the media matters. And what we see on television has a very dramatic effect on our society.”
Back in 2014, Maines and her family went to court after her school stopped her from using the girls' toilet. Due to this case, the Supreme Judicial Court ruled that the school had violated the state's human rights act. Since then she has gone on to work as an actress, winning GLAAD award for her performance on the show Royal Pains and featured in the HBO documentary, 'The Trans List'.

Asked about what she thinks about cis actors starring in trans roles, such as the recent announcement that Scarlett Johansson was to play a trans man, she said:
“I think that cis gender actors don’t take roles out of malice, it’s just a failure to realize the context of having cis gender people play trans gender characters.
“We don’t see the same issue with sexuality, we see straight people play gay all the time. With trans folks we have a lot of people accusing us of just playing dress up for whatever reasons and that’s just not true. Having trans people play trans roles show that we are valid in our identities and we exist.”
Supergirl returns Oct. 14 on the CW, where the new character will debut.
Kim Kardashian has left fans perplexed after launching a new bra with "faux nipples" for her shapewear brand.
On October 27, reality TV star turned fashion and beauty entrepreneur caused quite a stir on social media after announcing SKIMS' latest "innovative" product - the Ultimate Nipple Bra.
In case you can’t quite grasp the concept, the 43-year-old explained in a hilarious campaign video that the $120 bra is a new version of the brand’s beloved push-up style "with a built-in, faux nipple for shock factor".
This is to give the illusion of effects caused by being cold - even during warmer weather.
Watch the SKIMS advert below:Now you're probably wondering why she launched this product.
Well, according to the business mogul, this is because "the Earth’s temperature is getting hotter and hotter. The sea levels are rising. The ice sheets are shrinking," therefore, she believes "everyone can use their skill set to do their part" by wearing nipple bras...
"So no matter how hot it is, you’ll always look cold," she continued, pointing to a detailed diagram of the bra and sporting it under neutral-hued Skims separates.
In the video, Kardashian is sitting on a desk and hurling her hair back, telling viewers: "Some days are hard, but these nipples are harder. And unlike these icebergs, these aren’t going anywhere."
While the new nipple bra is an actual addition to the mom-of-four's collection, fans have been left confused and unable to tell if it is real, mainly due to the skit-like nature of the ad.
"Is this a joke??? Please tell me it's a joke," one shocked user on Instagram wrote, while another equally stunned person commented: "She lost her mind. Is this a joke?"
A third user quipped: "Had to check if it was April Fools Day today," and a fourth user chimed in: "I thought this was a skit but I think this Is actually a thing."
Meanwhile, others praised the product’s inclusivity, noting that it would empower breast cancer survivors. Someone shared: "AS A BREAST CANCER SAVIOR. I THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! I'M ACTUALLY CRYING RN," and a second interjected: "Of all things Kim has created this is by far the best ever!"
SKIMS has announced on social media that a portion of sales from the fashion drop - which will be available in six colors - will be donated to 1% for the Planet. The bras are currently being sold for $62 on the official Skims website.
"In addition to our investment in advancing carbon removal, Skims is proud to donate 10 percent of sales from our Skims Ultimate Nipple Bra, as a one-time donation, to @1percentftp - a global network with thousands of businesses and environmental organizations working together to support people and the planet," Kardashian revealed in her caption.
With winter approaching, do we really need this bra?
An Aussie mom has sparked a debate after complaining about "sexualized erotic images" on a lingerie store window.
Hannah Curran, who lives in Australia's Northern Territory, took to her Facebook to complain about a local Bras N Things lingerie store that was displaying images of women wearing g-string underwear.
Uploading a video to her Facebook account, Curran can be heard saying: "Shame on you Bras N Things… head office and Gateway Shopping Centre [Northern Territory] are allowing this in public viewing from outside the shop for any age to see."
She also questioned whether the lingerie chain was "trying to turn into a strip club with this for public view."
Check out what she had to say below:NT News managed to speak with the disgruntled shopper, who revealed: "My main concern is children easily being able to see these sexualized erotic images [...] We as a society must protect children and not normalize and promote any pornography, sexual or erotic images."
As detailed by the Daily Mail, several others mirrored Curran's concerns, with one commenting: "Not everyone is OK with a woman's butt, with a g-string shoved up the crack being in full view."
Another wrote: "Maybe turn the display to face the inside of the shop might be better."
Though, it seemed a larger number of users didn't share the mom's sentiments, with one woman writing: "My kids saw g-strings on the line so often that they just assumed full briefs were 'boy underwear'. It's an underwear store, get over it. Focus more attention on what they can access on those screens you hand them to shut them up 10hrs a day."
"It's a bum. A bum is not sexual without a sexual reference. If your kid has that sexual reference then that's on you!" another added.
"Has she never been to an Australian Beach?!? Some of the thong bikinis on there would probably give her a heart attack!" someone else chimed in.
A spokesperson for the shopping mall, Gateway Shopping Centre, told NT News that Curran should direct her complaint to the Bras N Things store in question.
"We take our duty of care very seriously," the spokesperson told the local news outlet. "It was undertaken by the store for the store."
"But if we did receive a complaint, our first action would be to contact the retailer," they added.
Fans are praising the creators behind The Last Of Us after the latest episode of the post-apocalyptic drama featured a menstrual cup.
The HBO show - which stars Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsay - has become very popular over the past few weeks due to its adaptation of the video game and deviations from the original plot such as introducing an LGTBQ+ couple.
Now, episode six of the series - which aired on February 20 - is being celebrated for its period representation after a scene showed 14-year-old Ellie (played by Ramsey) holding a menstrual cup.
However, the scene also left many male viewers confused as they struggled to understand what the item was, and what its purpose is.
In the episode, Joel (played by Pascal) and Ellie arrive in a town where his brother Tommy (played by Gabriel Luna) lives with his new wife, Maria (played by Rutina Wesley).
After the couple gives them a warm welcome, Maria secretly gifts the teenager a menstrual cup, alongside fresh clothes. Ellie seems perplexed at first but then she smiles to herself and squishes the cup between her fingers. She then briefly looks at the pamphlet's instructions and says "gross," with a smile.
Check out the trailer for The Last of Us:The scene was short but has quickly become one that viewers took to their social media accounts to celebrate. Some have applauded the show for its realism in portraying girls getting their monthly periods.
Others are also praising the show and its creators for normalizing the discussion around menstruation and opening up the floor to questions.
One user wrote: "You know possibly the coolest part of TLOU tv show is that they acknowledge periods?? Ellie being stoked to find tampons, and Maria giving her a menstrual cup, is so f***ing good. Periods are almost never addressed in media and I just like seeing it handled normally."
Another person said: "Kudos to TLoU for the scene where Ellie is given a menstrual cup. I mean, I was happy when she found those tampons in an earlier episode, but the fact that different kinds of menstrual products are shown throughout the show makes me appreciate it even more."
A third user commented: "I really don't think y'all understand how awesome it is to not only have Ellie find tampons in episode 3, but also be presented with a menstrual cup this episode??? I did not see or hear about periods in media growing up. This f***ing groundbreaking!"
A fourth stated: "Showing Ellie getting a menstrual cup made me so happy they didn’t have to do that but they did and I appreciate the detail!!"
Meanwhile, some women had to explain to the men in their lives what the item was, as one user revealed: "Was watching The Last of Us with my dad and the scene with the diva cup comes [on] ofc he goes 'what is that thing'."
And another second user chimed in: "Watched the latest episode of the last of us… had to explain to my stepdad what a menstrual cup is."
Speaking about the choice to include the applauded scene, showrunner Craig Mazin told Vulture: "[The menstrual cup] is a great solution in the ongoing apocalypse. It’s a reusable solution that doesn’t require you finding boxes of tampons in Infected-ridden cellars."
He also explained why the creators didn't feel the need to include more information about the cup in the scene and said: "The intention was that if you don’t know what it is, you can ask someone or you can Google."
"It’s more for the people who do know what it is. We do this all the time in shows with things like guns. People don’t know how to load guns, and we don’t explain it to them. Why should we have to explain this?" he added.
