Can you believe it has been over 20 months since we said goodbye to the Crain family and The Haunting Of Hill House?

Based on the novel of the same name by Shirley Jackson, the critically acclaimed Netflix series completely reinvented the horror genre, and proved that - when done right - television shows can be as terrifying and as emotional as the best movies.

Put simply: We came for the scares, we stayed for the character development.

And it won't be long until we're once again hiding under our duvets and double-checking our own houses for hidden ghosts, as the follow-up series to the show, The Haunting Of Bly Manor, is still on track to be released this year.

It was confirmed that filming for the second installation of the show had wrapped back in February, when show director and creator Mike Flanagan tweeted the following:

"That’s a wrap on THE HAUNTING OF BLY MANOR. Congratulations to the cast and crew, the familiar faces and the new, and congratulations to the filmmakers who came on board to make this season their own."

And back in April, when replying to a fan asking how the second series was coming along, Flanagan confirmed that post-production on the show was continuing "from home", and that there was no reason for the 2020 release date to be pushed. He wrote:

"Going great. Still on schedule, we wrapped before the shutdown and post-production has carrying on from home. The show is shaping up wonderfully, I'm thrilled with it. At the moment no reason to think it'll be pushed. @netflix will announce the release date when they're ready."

Now, in an interview with CinemaBlend (which can be seen below), Flanagan has once again stressed that the show's 2020 release date will not be pushed back.

Flanagan said: "I don't expect it to be delayed one bit. We didn't really miss a step, believe it or not. We had already wrapped before the whole Covid shutdown hit all the productions.

"We had a couple of weeks where we had to kind of figure out how to continue post remotely. But my post team also, you know, where I've been with now, my whole career, they cracked it real fast and we've been doing everything on these virtual sessions.

"I think Netflix, they haven't announced when it's coming out. They've got their own plan. But we've been jamming through post. It's been going great. It's definitely later this year. It's not going to get kicked off into 2021, or anything. Everything's on schedule. I'm really excited for you guys to see it."

Genuinely, this may be the best news I have heard all 2020.

The Haunting of Bly Manor will star some returning faces from Hill House - including Kate Siegel, Catherine Parker, Henry Thomas, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, and Victoria Pedretti.

And alongside them, the series will star T’Nia Miller, Amelia Eve, Amelie Smith, Benjamin Ainsworth, and Rahul Kohli.

If you thought 2020 was scary already, it's about to get scarier...
