Elon Musk is urging people to cancel their Netflix accounts due to one particular show on the platform - despite its high score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Tesla CEO has spent much of today sharing posts by users on X (formerly Twitter), stating that they will be canceling their accounts on the streamer because of the Netflix show.

Responding to a user who wrote that he had just canceled his Netflix subscription, Musk simply wrote: “Same.” In another post, he recommended that parents "cancel Netflix for the health of your kids."

What is the show called?

The series in question, Dead End: Paranormal Park, aired in 2022 and ran for two seasons, totaling 20 episodes.

With a 100% score on the Tomatometer from critics and a 73% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes, there's no denying its acclaim.

Musk criticizes the show’s content for children

Recently, a clip from the show resurfaced online, showing the protagonist, Barney Guttman, declaring that he is transgender.

This moment has drawn attention from groups like Gays Against Groomers and Libs of TikTok, who argue that the show, rated TV-Y7 and aimed at children, should not feature such topics.

Musk has reposted and supported messages from users who have called for people to cancel their Netflix accounts, alleging that the platform is promoting content related to the trans community to young viewers.

Musk’s ongoing criticism of the trans community

Musk’s criticism of the show ties into his broader, public stance on the trans community. His daughter, Vivian Jenna Wilson, who transitioned and is now 21, has been outspoken about her father’s views.

Musk has made several controversial statements about his daughter’s transition, even mentioning it in an interview with Canadian psychologist Jordan Peterson in 2024.

He described the “woke mind virus” as having “killed” his relationship with her, fueling further tension.

Previous boycotts and Netflix’s stance

This is not the first time Netflix has found itself under scrutiny. In 2021, the streaming service faced backlash for comedian Dave Chappelle’s specials, which included jokes about the trans community that many found offensive.

In response to the criticism, Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos defended the company’s commitment to artistic freedom, stating that it was impossible to please everyone but that Netflix would continue to support its creators.

Musk has previously led calls to boycott other platforms, such as Facebook and NPR, and has had disagreements with Apple over OpenAI. His stance on Dead End: Paranormal Park adds to a pattern of him challenging platforms he disagrees with.
