Moses J. Moseley's cause of death has been revealed.
The actor was perhaps best known for playing one of Michonne's "Pet Walkers" on the hit AMC show The Walking Dead - a character later revealed to be her former lover, Mike. Additionally, Moseley had also amassed a dedicated fanbase thanks to his guest-starring roles on shows like Queen of the South, Watchmen, and the 2013 movie The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
Moseley died on January 26 at the age of 31, with his agent confirming the tragic news to PEOPLE. Police confirmed that his body was found in his car in the Hudson Bridge area of Stockbridge, Georgia.
Now, per a death certificate obtained by TMZ and reviewed by PEOPLE, a medical examiner has confirmed that the actor's cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head. However, coroners have also revealed that the manner of Moseley's death could not be determined.
Per the documents, officials have been unable to rule whether Moseley's death was an accident or suicide.
The news comes after members of the actor's family told TMZ that they did not believe the young star had died by suicide. Additionally, Henry County Police Captain Randy Lee told TMZ back in February that Moseley's death was being investigated as "a possible suicide", adding that detectives were "following any and all available avenues and not ruling anything out."
Moseley's family also revealed that they received a letter from President Joe Biden, in which the POTUS offered his condolences for the actor's passing.
The letter read: "Jill and i are sending you our heartfelt condolences on the passing of your beloved Moses. I know there are few words I can share that will ease the pain of losing a loved one. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
"Though the grieving process never quite ends, I promise you the day will come when the memory of Moses will bring a smile to your lips before it brings a tear to your eye. My prayer for you is that this day comes sooner rather than later."
Following Moseley's death, tributes poured in for the late actor from friends, fans, co-stars, and family.
"Everyone loved Moses. He never met a stranger. He loved his fans as much as his family and friends. He was always excited to get auditions and work," said his agent Tabatha Minchew in a statement, per The Independent.
"He was a great friend for 10 years or more. He was the kind of person who you could call in the middle of the night if you needed to talk or needed anything," she added, before concluding: "He will be deeply missed by so many, his friends, family, costars and fans."
And Addy Miller, who played Summer in season one The Walking Dead, wrote: "[So] heartbroken to hear about the passing of this bright, kind soul. moses had such a positive energy around him and always lifted those around him. [The Walking Dead] family won’t be the same without him. rest in peace, Moses [sic]".
Our thoughts continue to go out to Moseley's family, friends, and fans at this time.
