Fans have spoken out to share their disappointment that one of their favorite films has been 'ruined' due to recent events concerning members of its cast.
The film, which came out in 2008, became a huge hit with fans as they watched Peter Bretter's (Jason Segel) relationship with Sarah Marshall (Kristen Bell) break down and her move on with Aldous Snow (Russell Brand), while Peter eventually gets together with Rachel Jansen (Mila Kunis), who is a front desk clerk at a hotel where he is staying.
The fun caper has, however, been mired for fans by the fact that several of the stars of the film - including Kunis, Brand, and Jonah Hill, who played waiter Matthew Van Der Wyk - have hit the headlines for controversial reasons.
Russell Brand is the latest star who has made the news after allegations of sexual assault were levied against him by several women from early on in his career, which the comedian and actor has strenuously denied.
Brand was accused of rape, sexual assault, and emotional abuse by the women, which was covered in a Channel 4 Dispatches special over the weekend.
He addressed the claims, admitting that he was "very promiscuous" in his younger years, but maintained that all of his relationships were "consensual".
Kunis also came under fire recently after it was revealed that she and Ashton Kutcher had written letters to the judge in Danny Masterson's sex crimes case speaking of his character.
After the revelation was made public and Masterson was found guilty and jailed for 30 years to life, both Kutcher and Kunis apologized in a video message, stating that they hadn't "written to question the legitimacy of the judicial system or the validity of the jury's ruling".
Hill also faced accusations of "emotional abuse" in recent months after his former girlfriend, Sarah Brady, spoke out about their past relationship.
Former Zoey101 star Alexa Nikolas also shared her own claims on Twitter, alleging that Hill assaulted her when she was 16 by "slamm[ing her] to the door and shov[ing] his tongue down [her] throat", all of which lawyers for Hill denied, stating that it was a "complete fabrication" that "never happened".
Fans of the film have since shared their thoughts on social media, writing: "Boy, the cast of "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" has had a rough couple of months. First Jonah Hill is apparently a super controlling weirdo. Then Mila Kunis writes a letter defending a convicted rapist. And now Russell Brand gets accused of raping multiple women. Luckily, Kristen Bell and Jason Segel seem like decent people."
Others added: "It’s probably for the best we just forget Forgetting Sarah Marshall", and: "Shocked that the guy with the messiah complex might be a rapist. Pissed that Get Him to The Greek and Forgetting Sarah Marshall are now ruined."
Another wrote: "Speaking of sex offenders. Been wondering if Brand did much acting, or was just being Brand. Forgetting Sarah Marshall will be too hard to watch now."
