Gwen Stefani is famed for her platinum blonde hair, and over the years, its color has rarely changed - with the rare exceptions being baby blue and pink hair in the late 90s, and black dip-dyed ends in 2014.
She is so on top of her blonde hair game that we don't think we've ever seen a picture where her roots are showing, making her real, natural hair color a total mystery (almost).
Cast your mind back to Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani's 2020 Grammys performance:However, she does very occasionally, share throwback pictures showcasing her natural hair color, and she recently posted one of her celebrating her brother's birthday.
Alongside a picture of herself giving her older brother and former bandmate, Eric Stefani, a birthday cake, she wrote on Wednesday, June 17: "Happy b day @ericstefanimation #ericstefani i wouldn’t be me w out u! love u!!! [sic]"
If the clothing and picture quality are anything to go by, it appears to have been taken in the early 90s, but the biggest giveaway about the age of the picture is Stefan's natural hair color.
Stefani, who is wearing a white, sleeveless dress, has brown hair in the picture, and it appears to have some hints of lighter shades, foreshadowing the platinum blonde look that she would become famous for.
But this is not the first time that Stefani has shown off her natural hair color on Instagram with a throwback snap. She celebrated Father's Day last June by sharing a picture of her as a kid where she's sporting a rich brown hair color.
This comes after Stefani tried her hand at hairdressing during lockdown by giving Blake Shelton a "quarantine mullet".
Per Fox News, the 43-year-old is growing out the mullet as a "symbol of hope" during the pandemic, and he unveiled the in-progress look on Twitter on Thursday - a look created by none other than Gwen Stefani, 50.
"Quarantine mullet update 3/26/2020..." Shelton wrote. "@gwenstefani has decided to take it to the next level.. Stripes."
Meanwhile, this is everything Stefani does to look 30 when she's actually 50.
