Justin Bieber has shared an update with fans after his Ramsay Hunt syndrome diagnosis.
Last week, the 28-year-old musician announced on Instagram that a virus has left the right side of his face paralyzed, forcing him to cancel his upcoming shows.
The 'Peaches' singer was set to embark on the North American leg of the Justice World Tour, with tour dates scheduled in Washington DC, Toronto, New York, and Los Angeles.
Bieber posted a new Instagram Story on Monday (June 13), and conveyed his hopes for recovery from the illness causing the facial paralysis, saying Jesus has given him peace.
Watch Bieber deliver the news of his diagnosis below:"[I] Wanted to share a little bit of how I’ve been feeling," the pop star wrote, three days after revealing he had a partially paralyzed face.
After sharing an update last weekend saying he was struggling to eat, Bieber wrote that "each day has gotten better."
He added that through "all of the discomfort" he found "comfort in the one who designed me and knows me".
"I’m reminded he knows all of me. He knows the darkest parts of me that I want no one to know about and he constantly welcomes me into His loving arms," he continued.
Bieber said his faith has given him a "perspective" on the situation, and allowed him to experience "peace during this horrific storm that [he’s] facing."
"I know this storm will pass but in the meantime, JESUS IS WITH ME," he reminded himself.
Ramsay Hunt syndrome is a rare neurological disorder caused by a virus in the facial nerve and is one of 60 causes of facial palsy or paralysis.
In his original video, the Canadian singer said that the right side of his face was affected, adding: "It is from this virus that attacks the nerve in my ear and my facial nerves and has caused my face to have paralysis."
The syndrome is caused by the varicella-zoster virus, which is the same virus that causes chickenpox and shingles. It can cause not only facial weakness but also blisters in the ears and on the roof of the mouth.
The entertainer has since had to put work commitments on hold, with no clear indication when he will be back on stage again.
