Rudy Giuliani's long-awaited controversial appearance on The Masked Singer finally aired on Wednesday night as he was unmasked as the Jack in the Box.
The 77-year-old politician was ex-President Donald Trump's lawyer and a former New York City mayor.
His appearance on the show was first reported in February when it was taped, but it was unclear if the footage would even air amid the controversy surrounding it.
After Giuliani's performance of George Thorogood and the Destroyers' 1982 classic 'Bad to the Bone', panelist Ken Jeong was seen looking not so amused at the big reveal.
Check out the moment Jeong walks off stage following Giuliani's reveal:The other judges also appeared stunned by the reveal, with Nicole Scherzinger quietly asking, “Is that Robert Duvall?” which led Jeong to monotonously reply, “No, that’s not Robert Duvall.”
During the segment, Jeong, who starred in Hangover, is seen with his arms crossed as he keeps a straight face.
Viewers have since taken to Twitter to back Jeong's stance:
At one point in the show, host Nick Cannon tells the contestant, “Mr. Giuliani, with all of the controversy that’s surrounding you right now, I think it surprises us all that you’re here on The Masked Singer.”
The politician replies, “Me too!” before explaining that he participated in the show for his granddaughter.
“I guess the main reason is, I just had a granddaughter, Grace, and I want her to know that you should try everything, even things that are completely unlike you and unlikely,” Giuliani explained.
When the former Trump lawyer started to sing his goodbye performance, Jeong could be heard saying, “I’m done,” and then walking off the set.
Initial reports claim that fellow judge Robin Thicke followed Jeong to check on him but that wasn't aired in the edited episode.
Giuliani is no stranger to controversy as his New York law license was suspended in June 2021 after an appellate court found that he made "demonstrably false and misleading” statements about voter fraud in the 2020 election. His license in Washington, D.C. was suspended the following month.
As NBC reported, in May 2021, he was also the subject of a federal investigation looking into whether he was involved in efforts to oust a former ambassador to Ukraine.
