Madonna has become the latest celebrity to pay tribute to George Floyd, but her actions have been slammed after she posted a video of her son dancing.

Floyd died at the hands of Minneapolis police after he was arrested on suspicion of forgery on May 25. The event has sparked widespread outrage around the world, and some of the celebrities to comment include Cardi B, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, and Reese Witherspoon.

Watch the video of Madonna's son dancing below:

In the video above, Madonna's son, 14-year-old David Banda, can be seen dancing to Michael Jackson's 1995 hit 'They Don't Care About Us'.

The 61-year-old captioned the video: "As news of George Floyds [sic] brutal murder travels around the world my son David Dances to honor and pay tribute to George and His Family and all Acts of Racism and Discrimination that happen on a daily basis in America."

This was accompanied by the hashtags: "#DavidBanda, #JusticeForGeorgeFloyd and #MichaelJackson."

Prior to posting the video of her son dancing, Madonna also reshared a video of Floyd himself calling for an end to gun violence.

However, while Madonna's video of her son might have been posted with the best of intentions, she was soon inundated with criticism on social media from people who thought that it was more than a little off the mark.

Former basketball player Rex Chapman described Madonna's post "the worst tweet of all time", and added: "Come dance in the kitchen for racism' is a weird take. To Michael Jackson? And other things."

Another Twitter user wrote: "Thank you so much. I'm so glad he was able to stomp out racism with this deeply moving tribute. Y'all's hard work and sacrifice to the cause... how can we ever repay you?"

Meanwhile, a third sarcastically remarked: "Wow. Racism is gone. Thank you girl."

This comes as a police station was set on fire during the third night of protests over George Floyd's death.
