Megan Fox has left her fans confused after she said that she carries the weight of men's sins.
The model-turned-actress is opening up about her experiences in the entertainment industry, and how the impact of men's inappropriate behavior has come to define her in her latest venture.
Titled Pretty Boys Are Poisonous, the 37-year-old is set to release a book of poems about transgression, identity, and freedom in the hopes that other women can also relate to her words.
Speaking of the project, the Jennifer's Body star wrote: "These poems were written in an attempt to excise the illness that had taken root in me because of my silence."
"I've spent my entire life keeping the secrets of men, my body aches from carrying the weight of their sins," she continued as per E! News.
When discussing the importance of releasing such an intimate read, she noted: "My freedom lives in these pages and I hope that my words can inspire others to take back their happiness and their identity by using their voice to illuminate what's been buried but not forgotten, in the darkness."
While her description is seemingly artistic and profound, some fans were left confused about the idea of her body carrying the weight of men's sins.
To me, it seems as though she's lived through many experiences that she is dealing with, but for some other fans, they just couldn't read between the lines with some even going as far as slamming her for the phrase.
"The heaviness she feels is from her own sins ~ so easy to point fingers," wrote one user while another added:
However, despite these sour comments, others jumped to the defense of Fox, stating that it's sad to see the harshest critics of women being other women.
"Not one to judge as I've never walked a day in her shoes," this user said. "Most people think they know how they would react to something/an experience when they have no frame of reference. As expected, the harshest critics of women are other women."
The news comes shortly after Fox took to Instagram on August 8 to post about her upcoming book.
The star also gave fans a preview of the cover, which included a red and white ombre background that had the words Boys Are Poisonous in black letters. In the middle of the page was a pair of lips, with a black snake enveloping it - a symbol of forced silence.
The post received an outpouring of support from fans, including from her "twin flame" Machine Gun Kelly who commented alongside others telling the 37-year-old how proud he was of her.
Boys Are Poisonous is set to be released on November 7.
