Mighty Ducks star Shaun Weiss is coming back to our screens.

After years of struggling with drug addiction issues, the former child star has been working on his sobriety since 2020 when he was charged with burglary and being under the influence of methamphetamine.

Now, it looks like Weiss's hard work is about to pay off, as he announced that he's landed his first acting gig since his recovery began.

The 42-year-old took to Instagram to share his happy news, explaining in a selfie caption that he is all set to appear in the upcoming movie Jesus Revolution.

"John Erwin & Lions Gate for my first role in... a while," Weiss wrote, followed by the hashtag 'Jesusrevolutionmovie'.

While we don't know yet when the film is set for release, Deadline reports that Weiss's co-stars will be Kelsey Grammer, The Kissing Booth's Joel Courtney, and comedian Jim Gaffigan. They add that it will focus on the genesis of the 1960s Jesus Movement in Southern California.

Weiss first appeared on screen in 1986 when he was just eleven years old and shot to fame playing goalie Greg Goldberg in Disney's 1992 hit The Mighty Ducks.

He went on to star in two more Mighty Ducks movies, and made appearances in Freaks & Geeks, The Cosby Show, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and Drillbit Taylor throughout the early 2000s.

However, Weiss began to struggle with addiction, and in 2020 hit rock bottom when he was arrested by police for burglary. Authorities reported that he was under the influence of methamphetamine when he was taken into custody.

Since then, the actor has been on a long road to recovery, undergoing dental reconstruction surgery and staying at a sober living facility to help him kick his drug addiction per TMZ.

The hard work has been worth it though, and earlier this year Weiss celebrated two years of sobriety in an Instagram post showing him at his lowest point alongside a snap of him smiling healthily at the camera.

"A journey of a thousand miles begins with 12 steps," read a caption on the picture.
