Britney Spears' former assistant claims that she cut ties with the singer after her father, Jamie Spears, threatened her.
Alli Sims, a cousin of the pop superstar who also served as her personal assistant for a number of years from 2007, opened up about how their relationship to NBC News.
During the interview, Sims claimed that she was threatened by Jamie while talking on the phone to her.
She alleges that he warned her something bad would happen if she didn't cease communication with Britney.
In her first interview in more than a decade, Sims claimed:
"[Jamie Spears] 100 percent was threatening me with my life. I didn’t put it past him, so I didn’t answer."
Jamie is currently under fresh scrutiny from Britney fans following the release of New York Times documentary Framing Britney Spears.
The film explores his relationship with his daughter as well as the 2008 conservatorship which granted Jamie control over Britney's finances – together with a handful of lawyers – for the last 13 years.
Explaining her reasons for speaking out, Sims added: "How do you watch that documentary and be in it and live in that and not say anything when it has gone on for so long?"
Per Too Fab, Felicia Culotta (one of Spears' oldest friends) was also prominently featured in the documentary and provided plenty of intriguing insights into the starlet's life.
Culotta, who had been friends with Britney since the singer was five-years-old, described how she was headhunted by the singer's mother, Lynne Spears, to act as Britney's personal assistant after the success of her single Hit Me Baby One More Time.
Culotta stated: "To be honest, I didn't then nor do I now understand what a conservatorship is. Especially for somebody's Britney's age and somebody capable of so much. I know, firsthand, [what] she's capable of."
She continued: "Once the conservatorship started, my role changed. When I went back, it was a different business management and her dad was involved. They did not hire me, the touring company hired me.
"I don't know why the Britney company didn't hire me. All I know is, maybe, they didn't know the role I had played earlier.
"So I took a backseat and simply did what I was hired to do. I don't really know what went on, I just don't know that they knew her well enough to realize her capabilities in making the decisions. Just me looking in, that's what I saw."
