Snoop Dogg confirms major career decision after being accused of making 'homophobic' comment

Snoop Dogg is set to make a big U-turn in his career after being accused of homophobia following some comments.

The Doggfather hasn’t been known for his child-friendly work to date, quite the opposite, but he’s planning to give it a go regardless.

Snoop Dogg’s career change came after a trip to the movies

So, how did the artist formerly known as Snoop Doggy Dogg end up being accused of homophobia in the first place?

It all started after he took a grandson to the movies to watch a film.

The 53-year-old spoke about his experience on the It’s Giving podcast, explaining how the experience left him ‘scared to go to the movies’.

There’s the ‘phobia’ part at least.

In short, his grandson asked a difficult question during the film Lightyear, the Toy Story spin-off released in 2022.

The query pertained to a relationship in the movie, but we’ll let him talk in his own words.

He said: “They're putting it everywhere [...] They're like, 'she had a baby - with another woman'.

“Well, my grandson, in the middle of the movie is like, 'Papa Snoop? How she have a baby with a woman? She's a woman!'.

"I didn't come in for this s***. I just came to watch the goddamn movie."

He then added: "Y'all throwing me in the middle of sh*t that I don't have an answer for."

Snoop Dogg made comments that angered some in the LGBTQ+ community

After those comments were released, some people were quick to accuse him of homophobia.

So, in order to assuage that, Snoop has decided that he’s going to release a song for kids called ‘Love is Love’ to do his bit to change that.

It’s a collaboration with the Gay and Lesbian Alliance against Defamation (GLAAD) to celebrate and champion LGBTQ+ representation for the organization’s annual Spirit Day.

On his own Drop It Like It’s Hot podcast, Snoop talked to Jeremy Beloate, an openly queer artist that just signed with Snoop’s very own Death Row Records.

Snoop said: “It’s a beautiful thing that kids can have parents of all walks [of life], and be able to be shown love, and be able to be taught what love is.”

He went on to discuss how ‘hate is taught and so is love’ and said: “Whether it’s two fathers, two mothers, whatever it is, love is the key.”

The D-O-G-G added: “I think these kids are being loved by these great parents [who] are showing them an example of what family is.

“So, I wanna give a shoutout to all of the parents out there for doing such a great job with these kids.

“I have the opportunity to teach these kids through my music.”
