Good news has been few and far between in 2020, which is why uplifting Christmas movies will be all the more important this holiday season, and now there's a Dolly Parton one to look forward to!
Christmas on the Square is set to be released on Netflix this November, and if its synopsis and promotional materials are anything to go by, it's set to bring some much-needed cheer into or lives.
The movie is directed by Debbie Allen (Grey's Anatomy), and it will star legendary country singer Dolly Parton alongside a cast including Christine Baranski (Mamma Mia!), Jenifer Lewis (Black-ish), and "so many other talented folks".

Per NME, the Netflix synopsis reads: "Regina Fuller (Baranski), a wealthy and unpleasant woman, returns to her small hometown in the wake of her father's death to evict everyone right before the holiday season."
"Following an encounter with an angel (Parton), a rekindling of an old romance and stories from the local community, she has a change of heart."
Alongside news of the film itself, Parton has released a new song 'Christmas on the Square', and it is one of 14 new songs by the country music star.
This is part of Parton's new Christmas album A Holly Dolly Christmas; her first holiday record since the release of Home for Christmas in 1990.

Christmas on the Square is dropping on Netflix on November 22.
But don't worry if you simply can't wait to have some holiday cheer in your life, a new TV channel showing 24/7 Christmas movies launched back in September.
Not only this, but the channel will also be launching themed weekends, with categories including Christmas Comedies, Naughty vs. Nice, Wicked Christmas, and Singing for Christmas.
