Last night's Super Bowl saw some incredible action as the Philadelphia Eagles took on the Kansas City Chiefs at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

Despite the game ending with a potentially controversial call by the referee, the Chiefs came out on top clinching the victory with a 38-35 win over the Eagles. The team's quarterback, 27-year-old Patrick Mahomes, has been praised for leading the Chiefs to victory, securing three touchdowns during his second MVP season.

Amongst all the football action, the halftime show was also a hot talking point online, with fans tuning in to see musical icon Rihanna take to the grandest stage of them all.

After taking a break from the music scene to focus on other business ventures, fans were initially delighted to hear that the 34-year-old singer would be making a comeback.

However, the overall reaction hasn't been as positive as we hoped it would be.

Not only did some people slam Rihanna for her "lack of energy" during her performance, but now people are also accusing the Barbados native of lip-syncing.

Twitter has been rife with comments about the possibility of Rihanna choosing to "go easy" with the vocals and let's just say, the rumor did not sit well with some fans.

"Might be the worst #SuperBowl halftime show I’ve ever watched," this user tweeted. "No energy. Boring. She’s not even trying to lip sync properly. Horrible."

"Isn’t Rihanna the richest woman alive? Why is she lip syncing? Just do your thing," added another.

Others even picked up on the fact that she didn't keep her mic up to her mouth.

"Rihanna not even having the mic near her mouth while the lyrics are playing. Why bother doing the halftime show if you’re not even gonna try and lip sync, bizarre."

And the comments didn't stop there...

"I mean almost all artists these days lip sync at major events but Rihanna is just blatantly obvious lol."

"I can’t believe I spent 90 minutes fake watching sports I don’t understand nor care about, only for Rihanna to lip sync all her songs and deliver the most anticlimactic halftime show since Coldplay."

And this user even went as far as giving her some better-late-than-never-type advice.

And the criticism wasn't just confined to Twitter, as other public figures also spoke out about the performance - or lack of it, in this case.

Former President of the United States-turned-wannabe-music-critic Donald Trump has given us his opinion on the matter, stating that the entire thing was an "epic fail."

Taking to Truth Social, he said: "EPIC FAIL: Rihanna gave, without question, the single worst Halftime Show in Super Bowl history."

He continued: "This after insulting far more than half of our Nation, which is already in serious DECLINE, with her foul and insulting language.

"Also, so much for her 'Stylist!'", he added.

Big yikes.

Rihanna performed a medley of 12 of her most iconic songs, including 'Only Girl in the World', 'Rude Boy', 'Work', 'Diamonds' and 'Run This Town' while donning a red bustier and a matching jumpsuit - a re-imagination of the iconic Squid Game 'fit.

Elsewhere, the 34-year-old hinted at being pregnant with her second child, revealing a baby bump as she sang, with her rep later confirming the happy news, though sadly, that wasn't enough for some to forgive her for the quality of her performance.
