PETA has slammed Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce in a scathing statement after the couple visited Sydney Zoo.

The Grammy-winning pop star and her NFL star boyfriend, both 34, spent a romantic day together exploring the Sydney Zoo after Kelce flew in to join Swift on her Eras Tour after his Kansas City Chiefs teammates won their third Super Bowl in five years.

Footage obtained by Australian television's 9News Sydney captured the A-list pair getting up close and personal with one of the country's most beloved animals, the kangaroo.

The singer was seen feeding one out of the palm of her hand while her beau gently gave the animal a pet.

Another video also revealed Swift and Kelce holding hands while going on a stroll around the zoo, looking at the different wildlife exhibits, including the koalas.

The lovebirds weren’t alone on their trip as they were also joined by the 'Karma' songstress tourmate, Sabrina Carpenter, and the Chief tight-end's teammate, Ross Travis.

Since the clips circulated on social media, animal rights group PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) expressed their disappointment with the couple's visit - by using a cheeky Swift lyric reference.

Debbie Metzler - the group's Foundation's Director of Captive Animal Welfare - was far from impressed as she penned in a statement to TMZ: "While we understand all too well the appeal of seeing Australia's wildlife, PETA hopes that next time Taylor and Travis want to see wild animals, they'll spend their time and money at a true sanctuary."

The charitable organization explained that a sanctuary is a more suitable choice due to visitors being at a respectful distance from animals and the fact that they can't feed or touch them there.

The couple has not responded to PETA about their outing since the statement was released.

The 'I Knew You Were Trouble' musician is currently in the middle of the Australian leg of her tour and performed at Accor Stadium in Sydney on Friday, February 23. She will put on four back-to-back shows before wrapping things up on Monday, February 26.

Swift had previously hit the stage in Melbourne over the weekend and shared a sweet message on her Instagram expressing gratitude to all attendees for their support and energy.

"Melbourne, what do I even say to you after over 288,000 of you came and danced with us in the last 3 nights??!" she penned alongside a series of photos from that concert. "That was unforgettable. You were on another LEVEL. Thank you for the memories. I’ll revisit the ones from this weekend often."

After Sydney, the hitmaker will head to Singapore for three concerts on March 2, 3 and 4. She will then travel to Europe, where her first destination is Paris.
