Jessie J has revealed she is being less strict with her vegan diet since becoming pregnant - instead choosing to give her body "what it craves".

The singer, 34, is currently pregnant, a year after revealing she had suffered a devastating miscarriage.

Jessie - real name Jessica Cornish - had confirmed she was expecting again in January, sharing her excitement and nervousness to meet her new arrival.

She wrote at the time: "I am so happy and terrified to finally share this… Please be gentle with me. Honestly, ya girl just wants to ugly cry in public in a catsuit eating a chocolate covered pickle with no questions asked."

The 'Price Tag'. singer has now revealed that she has been embracing the cravings that come with pregnancy - including indulging in meat despite being vegan for many years.

She shared a photo of a delicious-looking plate containing chicken legs swimming in sauce as she told her followers: "Most of my days vegan. Some days really not. Giving my body what it craves."

Jessie had revealed in 2019 that she had cut meat from her diet in 2017 before going fully vegan a year later, telling Plant Based News that she had been motivated to do it after finding out she may struggle to have children.

She explained at the time: "I don't believe that. All women and men go through fertility issues and it's something that's very empowering for me to talk about.

"I had all these tests done, and basically the long and short of it was 'you manage the pain that you get, or you have to have a hysterectomy.'

"I decided to manage the pain and do it naturally. So four years ago I cut out sugar from my diet to try and stop bacteria from building up in my body."

Jessie added: "Once I cut out sugar I realized how much I began to enjoy food when it was good for me – and it was balancing out everything – my health, my moods, my sleep.

"I don't know anything, I go into everything I do saying 'I do not know anything, I want to learn'…It's about knowledge and power and gaining understanding from the person that focuses on the food element of veganism, or animal cruelty, or global warming.

"I'm at the beginning of this journey and I'm not speaking out on it because I'm doing everything I can, or doing everything right. It's about me trying to inspire a younger generation to love themselves, love their bodies, and love the world."

Jessie had previously opened up about her plans to start a family on her own after tragically having a miscarriage in November 2021.

She had shared a photo of herself in tears as she held a pregnancy test, after being told there was no longer a heartbeat at her third ultrasound scan.

Jessie wrote at the time: "Yesterday morning I was laughing with a friend saying 'seriously though how am I going to get through my gig in LA tomorrow night without telling the whole audience I am pregnant'. By yesterday afternoon I was dreading the thought of getting through the gig without breaking down…

"After going for my 3rd scan and being told there was no longer a heartbeat. This morning. I feel like I have no control of my emotions. I may regret posting this. I may not. I actually don’t know."

She added that she'd "decided to have a baby on [her] own" as she always wanted to be a mother and "life is short", having been told she could struggle with her fertility in the past.

"To get pregnant was a miracle in itself and an experience I will never forget and I know I will have again," she said, adding: "I'm still in shock, the sadness is overwhelming. But I know I am strong, and I know I will be ok.

"I also know millions of women all over the world have felt this pain and way worse. I feel connected to those of you I know and those of you I don’t. It’s the loneliest feeling in the world."
