Priscilla Presley has reportedly filed legal documents challenging the will of her late daughter, Lisa Marie.
The 77-year-old has been mourning the death of her only daughter and the child she shared with the late Elvis Presley. Aged just 54, Lisa Marie passed away on January 12 after reportedly suffering a cardiac arrest at her home in Calabasas, California.
Despite her heart initially being restarted by CPR, the mother of four sadly passed away in hospital. Although an autopsy has been performed, the singer's official cause of death was deferred by the Los Angeles County Coroner.
Lisa Marie is survived by three daughters - 33-year-old Riley Keough, and 14-year-old twins Harper and Finley Lockwood - as well as a granddaughter after Riley and her husband welcomed a baby girl in 2022. Lisa Marie was eventually laid to rest at Graceland - Elvis' estate in Memphis, Tennessee - alongside her father, her son (who died by suicide in 2020 aged 27), her paternal grandparents, and her paternal great-grandmother.
Upon Lisa Marie's death, Riley was set to become a co-trustee of her mother's trust alongside her brother Benjamin, however, his death in 2020 left her the lone trustee. Priscilla has since filed documents challenging this, alleging that "there are many issues surrounding" it and that it should be legally declared invalid by a judge, Entertainment Tonight has reported.
The outlet has detailed how Priscilla filed documents contesting the will in the Los Angeles Superior Court last week after she learned that Riley and Benjamin were to be co-trustees in the event of her death after an amendment was made in 2016. Prior to this amendment, Priscilla claims that she and Lisa Marie's former business manager, Barry Siegel, had been appointed co-trustees on January 29, 1993.
Priscilla stated that this had occurred when Lisa Marie "executed a revocable living trust, which she amended and completely restated on January 27, 2010." The grandmother-of-four then added, per the documents, that: "Both the 1993 original trust and 2010 restatement appear to be carefully drafted by competent estate planning attorneys."
Given that Benjamin passed away almost three years ago, Riley would be left as the lone trustee of Lisa Marie's estate. However, despite the apparent 2016 amendment, Priscilla claims "there are many issues surrounding the authenticity and validity of the purported 2016 amendment," including the fact that Priscilla's name was misspelled and that the amendment "was never delivered to [Priscilla] during Lisa Marie Presley's lifetime as required by the express terms of the Trust."
She also states in her filing - which comes less than a week after Lisa Marie was laid to rest at Graceland - that her daughter's signature on the amendment "appears inconsistent with her usual and customary signature."
