Ricki Lake has revealed her jaw-dropping weight loss transformation.
On Saturday (February 24), the 55-year-old former talk show host took to her Instagram page to candidly open up about her recent health journey.
Lake disclosed to her followers that she and her husband Ross Burningham, whom she married in 2022, each lost a remarkable 30 pounds in four months, putting her at 140 pounds now.
The Hairspray actress shared some before and after progress pictures, including one of her donning a black sports bra and leggings that showed off her slimmed-down frame from the side.
Check out Lake's posts below:"Hi friends. I’ve been wanting to share with you what I’ve been up to these last 4 months," Lake began in the caption. "On October 26th, 2023 I made a commitment to myself to get healthier."
The TV personally disclosed that she and her partner lost weight "without relying on a pharmaceutical," adding: "Not that there is anything wrong with that," seemingly referring to diabetic medications that have become popular for their weight loss benefits, such as Ozempic.
"But neither of us were prediabetic and both of us felt like we wanted to at least try and do it on our own," she continued. "Being 55 and in perimenopause, I was a bit worried that my body would not drop the lbs like it had in the past."
Lake went on to reflect on her journey so far: "I am so so proud of us. I feel amazing. I feel strong. I will go in-depth in another post of what I did exactly, but suffice to say this is the healthiest way I’ve lost weight in all of my years."
The first picture shared in the post was "taken today on our daily hike," and it showed Lake smiling while taking a selfie with her husband, who walked behind her.
The second picture was a sweet snap of the couple hugging as they stood outside on a patio with a hillside view behind them, while the third was her on the beach, which displayed her fuller figure.
Lastly, the final photo in the carousel was a graph from her phone showing her progress, which revealed she had lost 20 pounds since November. "(I only started weighing myself on 11/15/23) guessing I was about 170 when I started. I’m 5’3,''" she explained in the caption, adding the hashtags "#healthy #fitat55 #proud #thisis55."
Lake's post was flooded with supportive comments and praise from many fans and famous faces.
One user wrote: "ETERNALLY inspired by you and how you show up to life. Thanks for sharing about your everyday hard work and dedication," and another said: "HECK YES!!!! Love your honesty and THANK YOU for sharing the hard work you’re both doing…inspired! LOVE YOU!!!"
A third gushed: "Wow, so inspirational! I’m looking forward to you telling us what you did - I would love some tips on what worked for you. Congratulations to both you and your husband."
"Looking great Ric," comedian Rosie O’Donnell wrote in response, while actress/singer Kristin Chenoweth replied: "Good for yall!! This is amazing!!!"
Lake weighed 200 pounds when she was cast as Tracy Turnblad in the 1988 John Waters movie, Hairspray.
She has been candid about her weight loss journey, revealing in 2022 that she had discussed going on a "crash diet" and getting down to a "sample size".
"I was offered four magazine covers. It was People, Us Weekly, OK! — the power of that, it was unbelievable. Well, not unbelievable, totally believable, but it happened to me. Yes, I got more opportunities, more attention, it was way more positive," she said on her podcast Raised By Ricki.
"I'm conflicted because I am proud of myself. When I lose that weight, it is something I want the world to know, I did this. It's a lot of work and a lot of willpower, so I want to talk about it, but I know that it’s not the best thing to be celebrating," she shared.
Lake said at the time that she was "perpetuating that obsession we have with diet culture," adding, "I’m a part of it."
