Brass Against frontwoman Sophia Urista has broken her silence after a disturbing video of her during a live performance circulated on social media...

The lead singer of the rock band was filmed on video pulling down her pants and peeing on a fan's face during at the Welcome to Rockville festival in Daytona, Florida.

The band, known for covering songs by bands such as Soundgarden and Black Sabbath, was performing a rendition of 'Wake Up' by Rage Against the Machine when the incident occurred.

After inviting a fan on stage, Urista instructed him to lie down. She then proceeded to pull down her trousers and appeared to urinate on his face, while still performing the song, TMZ reports.

Those at the show in Daytona Beach, Florida, and people watching the clips online branded the moment "disgusting".

The disturbing stunt was captured on video by people who were just feet away watching it unfold in the crowd. The man then got up and spewed up some of the urine in the direction of the audience.

Urista has now issued a statement of her own following the ordeal, admitting she "pushed the limits too far".

"I want to speak to my performance at Rockville metal festival in Daytona," she wrote on Instagram.

"I have always pushed the limits in music and on stage. That night, I pushed the limits too far. I love my family, the band, and the fans more than anything and I know that some were hurt or offended by what I did."

"I apologize to them and want them to know that I didn't mean to hurt them. I am not a shock artist. I always want to put the music first. I'm grateful for all of your continued love and support," she added.

It comes as the band issued a statement the day after the incident occurred, saying that Urista got "carried away".

"We had a great time last night at Welcome to Rockville," they said in a post on Twitter. "Sophia got carried away. That’s not something the rest of us expected, and it’s not something you’ll see again at our shows. Thanks for bringing it last night, Daytona."

Before the ordeal, Urista was heard telling the crowd that she needed to urinate.

"Get my man with the can on his head ready, 'cause we're going to bring him onstage and I'ma p*** in this motherf***er's mouth," she said. "I gotta pee," she added. "And I can't make it to the bathroom. So we might as well make a show out of it."
