Viewers were left confused after watching one particular scene at the Olympics opening ceremony.

The 2024 Paris Olympics kicked off last night with a rather unique opening ceremony consisting of all of our favorite things - drama, fire, and of course, Celine Dion.

However, there was one particular moment that seemed to leave people scratching their heads and no - it wasn't the re-enactment of Marie Antionette’s beheading (though that was particularly strange).

Instead, it was the risqué scene depicting the beginning of a potential ménage à trois.

It showed three androgynous individuals exchanging playful glances before heading towards a more private room to explore their passions further.

I mean, slay, but that eye contact before they closed the door had me feeling like a scummy voyeur.

Have a look at a snippet below:

The individuals represented the national motto of France: liberté, égalité, fraternité – or liberty, equality, fraternity. And, I guess, the segment showed how these morals are intertwined and connected throughout the nation.

Naturally, people took to social media to talk about the sensual moment, with many left speechless watching the moment during the opening of such a prestigious event.

"The threesome in the Reading Room at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France was quite the surprise," wrote one user, while another added: "Were we interrupting something??? A possible threesome [...] WHAT IS HAPPENING?"

A third chimed in writing: "They literally just showed a ménage à trois in the Olympic opening ceremony and the NBC team had no idea how to react lmfaoooooo VIVE LA FRANCE."

And this user was less than impressed, joking: "Shout out to the Paris Olympics #OpeningCeremony for me having to explain to my children what a Ménage à trois is."

However, others reacted to it a little more seriously with this X-user tweeting: "How is a threesome appropriate content for the #OlympicOpeningCeremony? They realize kids watch this, right? You don’t need to incorporate ménage a trois just because it’s French."

"So Olympics just portrayed a Ménage à trois?! This is off the rails. I thought this was a family show?" another added.

I mean, it was pretty tame for what it could have been, right? Especially given the fact that it was the year of ménage à trois... cue Zendaya, Mike Faist, and Josh O'Connor.

Elsewhere, with a slightly more tamer performance, we also saw Celine Dion take to the grand stage with her powerful rendition of Edith Piaf’s ‘L’Hymne à l’amour’ atop the Eiffel Tower.

It's giving French, you know?

The Olympic Games will be ongoing until Sunday, August 11.
