Jordan Peterson has sparked outrage after commenting on the appearance of Yumi Nu - one of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover stars of 2022.

And she has promptly clapped back at him.

The 59-year-old psychologist and author quote-tweeted The New York Post’s tweet of the musician and plus-size model’s cover debut, writing: "Sorry. Not beautiful. And no amount of authoritarian tolerance is going to change that," to his 2.7 million followers.

The controversial figure’s tweet sparked a furious backlash. The tweet gained over 8,000 quote retweets with users questioning his choice of words.

The singer decided to respond to Peterson in a tweet saying: "H**s mad," which amassed over 70,000 likes.

Social media commenters reacted to Peterson, with the majority of users disagreeing with him. Many also sent Nu words of support after seeing his tweet.

Twitch streamer HasanAbi responded with an unflattering picture of Peterson alongside the same caption: "Sorry. Not beautiful. And no amount of authoritarian tolerance is going to change that."

One user interjected and said: "Why do men feel it's their duty to publicly pronounce their view on the attractiveness of women? Couldn't you just keep it to yourself?"

Another quote-retweeted and said: "Your judgments about another person say more about your own character than the character of the person you are pointing a finger at. To me, she's incredibly beautiful. Why is your standard concept of beauty more correct than mine? Yawn. Predictable. Jesus would disagree."

Comedian and actor John Fugelsang sarcastically replied: "And Jordan Peterson gets to give this verdict of Yumi Nu bc he's just so god-damned good-looking."

The plus-size model revealed to the New York Post that landing the cover of SI swimwear magazine was a complete surprise from her agent: “I could not speak. I had full-body chills. I was shaking, I was crying. They really got me good.”

Nu added that representation is very important to her and she champions diversity: “I feel like we’re in a place right now where people are making space for more diversity on magazine covers."

"It’s a big-time for Asian American people in media. I know I play a big role in representation in body diversity and race diversity, and I love to be a role model and representative of the plus-size Asian community,” she concluded.

Congratulations to Nu! She looks amazing.
