Erin Moriarty has seemingly quit Instagram following disgusting plastic surgery claims made by Megyn Kelly.
It all started when Kelly, 53, brought up the actress during an episode of her podcast with The Daily Wire’s Michael Knowles.
In the January 17 episode, Kelly accused Moriarty of being a prime example of an "addiction" to cosmetic surgeries, before referring to it as a "social illness".
"I thought it was just an AI-generated face... but apparently it’s real," Kelly said. "She’s done this to herself... "She’s got the Kim Kardashian lips. She’s made her nose so skinny it looks like a pencil now. She’s got, like, what appear[s] to me to be cheek implants."
"More and more young women are doing this," Kelly continued. "It’s not about an objection to plastic surgery, it’s about an obsession with turning yourself into this fake version of yourself... I find it like a sign of mental illness.
"I really want to get in the heads of these young girls and say, 'Please don’t do this,'" she added.
Of course, Moriarty didn't take too well to the degrading comments, taking to social media to address the issue directly.
"This is something I truly never anticipated writing," she started the lengthy statement. "We're all subject to levels of bullying throughout our lives but I am horrified, and I felt that I deserved to take a second to address these things. I had no idea what was going on, to be honest, because I've had one of the most challenging weeks of my life. And I specifically thought that as I emerge this period of time - so stressed that I have BARELY been able to eat and sleep."
She then went on to state that she's learned to just "move on" from comments made about her appearance because she's so used to it, before going on to slam Kelly's accusations as "false."
"To receive a message about a disgustingly false, counterproductive to the degree of being ironically misogynistic video of Megyn Kelly commenting on the manner - to learn the widespread nature of this has left me horrified," she continued. "Megyn used a photo taken 'a year ago' according to her, that had in actuality been taken about a decade ago before I was of LEGAL DRINKING AGE (I'm about to turn 30) as an example (maybe do some research that would take 30 seconds).
"How utterly misinformed, inaccurate, and clickbait seeking people who we follow and consider to be informed is appalling," she added.
The 29-year-old then discussed how she got her makeup done in a way that made her feel "pretty" and accurately disguised the stressors in her life, but she was left "in tears" after seeing comments about the look on her socials - the post has since been removed.
"I saw the comments, scathing enough to just turn my comments off," she said before concluding the first page: "But this is becoming harassment. This is becoming false news."
The statement continued into a second page, with the actress declaring that she's going to take an "extensive, if not permanent" break from social media.
Have a look at the full statement below:Thousands of fans took to the comments to offer their support amongst the barrage of backlash that continued to plague the Instagram account.
"Being a woman in this world is so f****** hard. Hope you come out of this okay," wrote one user while another added: "I’m sorry this happened, Erin. You leaving social media temporarily (or permanently) is totally understandable. Just know that the real fans stand behind you. Bullying is NOT okay."
Moriarty also received some support from her co-stars, including Chace Crawford, who left her a red heart emoji, and Jack Quaid, who commented: "Love you, Erin. F*** the haters."
Others, however, were less forgiving, with some suggesting that it's too "obvious" that the Boys star had had some procedures done.
"Complaining about the consequences of your actions is crazy," said one user, while another commented: "You don't even look like yourself anymore, were you really expecting people not to notice??"
Moriarty has not updated her social media since the statement.
