Bella Ramsey has recently confirmed her gender identity during a new interview.

Speaking to The New York Times, the 19-year-old The Last Of Us star stated that she's gender fluid, adding that she "couldn't care less about pronouns."

"I guess my gender has always been very fluid," Ramsey told the outlet. "Someone would call me 'she' or 'her' and I wouldn’t think about it. But I knew that if someone called me 'he,' it was a bit exciting."

The actress then went on to explain that she would tick the box for "non-binary" when asked to name her gender on documents.

"I’m very much just a person," she added. "Being gendered isn’t something that I particularly like. But in terms of pronouns, I really couldn’t care less."

Taking to Instagram once the interview was published, the teen described the coverage as "cool", adding that the people around her created "a safe space where [she] could be [herself]."

"...These people created a safe space where I could be myself. I didn’t realize how grateful I was for that. I’m gonna put these emojis here, they vaguely relate [to] the article, you’ll see..."

Of course, her fans were delighted with the details of the intimate interview, as well as the accompanying photoshoot, commending the actress in the comments.

"One of the greatest actresses of this generation," praised one user.

"I wish you only the best, Bella! You got this, kiddo!" Added another while a third thanked her for her portrayal of Ellie in The Last of Us:

"YOU’RE INCREDIBLE!! THANK U FOR ELLIE," they said.

The news comes shortly after the actor was nominated for Best Young Actor/Actress for her work on Catherine Called Birdy at the Critics' Choice Awards which took place at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles on Sunday night.

Though Gabriel LaBelle secured the victory for his work in The Fabelmans, prior to the ceremony, Ramsey did emphasize her happiness at being nominated in the non-gendered category.

Beyond Catherine Called Birdy, Ramsey is known for her roles in HBO's post-apocalyptic drama, The Last of Us, and fantasy drama television series, Game of Thrones.
