Tina Turner opened up in her final interview about how she wanted to be remembered, ahead of her death this week.
Turner sadly passed away yesterday (May 26) and many around the world have flocked to offer their heartfelt tributes to the iconic singer.
Following an abusive relationship with her ex-husband Ike Turner, she was left to build a solo music career for herself in the '80s which she did very successfully.
Releasing songs such as 'What's Love Got To Do With It' and 'The Best', the singer went on to sell over 150 million albums worldwide, cementing her place in the music history books.
Just weeks prior to her tragic passing, Turner gave her final interview where she revealed how she wanted to be remembered.
She sat down with the Guardian as part of their Q&A column where she answered questions that show her truly amazing character.
Turner delved into things like her biggest fear, which is never wanting to go back, as she only wanted to keep looking forward, and that her earliest memory was playing on her favorite tree.
She revealed that her celebrity crush was Mick Jagger and that nothing scared her about getting older as she embraced every day and enjoyed "life's full adventure".
Turner was then asked how she wanted to be remembered, and she responded: "As the Queen of Rock’n’Roll. As a woman who showed other women that it is OK to strive for success on their own terms."
It is without a doubt that this is exactly how Turner will be remembered, as she came out of an abusive relationship and conquered the music industry while being a beacon of inspiration for other women around the world.
Elsewhere in the interview, Turner was asked what she dislikes most about her appearance, to which she boldly responded: "Nothing. Women are forced to look far too closely and be critical of their appearance. Men don’t."
According to the US Sun, the singer had her legs insured for $2 million, saying: "Sometimes I think I’m as famous for my legs as much as my voice."
The tragic news about Turner's passing came from her publicist, with her official Instagram account writing: "It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tina Turner. With her music and her boundless passion for life, she enchanted millions of fans around the world and inspired the stars of tomorrow.
"Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music. All our heartfelt compassion goes out to her family. Tina, we will miss you dearly."
Stars have flocked to pay their respects to the late singer, and leading the tributes was Rolling Stones legend Mick Jagger - who toured with Turner during her career.
He wrote: "I’m so saddened by the passing of my wonderful friend Tina Turner. She was truly an enormously talented performer and singer. She was inspiring, warm, funny, and generous. She helped me so much when I was young and I will never forget her."
