Tom Hanks' son Chester - who goes by the name Chet - has revealed that growing up with famous parents was a "double-edged sword".

While being the son of the Oscar-winning actor and musician Rita Wilson had major boons, it also led to people judging him and thinking that he was "arrogant" or "spoiled."

Speaking on his YouTube channel Hanx Fit last weekChet spoke about growing up as the child of two very famous people in showbiz.

Chet is Hanks' third child, and his first with wife Rita. Hanks has three other children, two of whom are from a previous marriage.

The 31-year-old said that he "wouldn't want any different life," and loves his parents, but that growing up around fame was "complicated."

"There’s a lot of advantages [of being a celebrity kid], but sometimes it can be pretty weird," he said. "I got to do a lot of cool s*** that a lot of people don’t get the opportunity to do.

"My experience was even more complicated because on top of fame already being toxic, I wasn't even famous."

Watch Chet Hanks open up about his childhood right here:

"I was just the son of somebody famous, so I hadn't even done anything to deserve any sort of recognition and that created a lot of contempt for me," he added.

Chet said that people assumed that he would be an "arrogant, entitled, spoiled brat," and that while he was "very privileged," he wasn't spoiled and had to work to earn an allowance from his parents while growing up.

"Everyone was just prepared to hate my guts, and that caused me to develop a chip on my shoulder and walk around with a lot of anger," Chet said in the video.

He added: "And it led me to create this hard exterior so that people wouldn't f**k with me, because people did kind of f**k with me growing up."

Elsewhere in his video, Chet said that he "didn't have a strong male role model to tell me 'bro, f*** these people, they are just jealous of you.'"

"You have all these things that they want, so they are trying to f***ing throw their shade at you so you can feel s*** about yourself because they are jealous," he said.
