Trevor Noah has weighed in on Kanye West being banned from the Grammys.
The rapper, 44, was taken off the lineup for this year's awards ceremony and given a 24-hour ban from Instagram after he used the social media platform to make a racist slur against comedian Noah.
The tension between the two was first sparked when the Daily Show host commented on West's split from his ex-wife Kim Kardashian, hitting out at him for harassing her and refusing to let her move on.
Now, Noah seems to have taken a less combative stance, in a Sunday morning tweet suggesting he only ever wanted to help West.
"I said counsel Kanye not cancel Kanye," the comedian - who is set to host this year's Grammy's - wrote on Twitter.
Over the last few months, West - who has legally changed his name to Ye - has been using his Instagram account to express his grievances against his 41-year-old ex and her new boyfriend, 28-year-old Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson.
His aggression towards Davidson peaked when he shared the music video for his new track 'Eazy', in which an animated character bearing a striking resemblance to the comedian is kidnapped and buried alive.
Noah's original remarks on West's actions - which aired last Tuesday - hit out at the rapper, saying: "Over time, Kanye has become more and more belligerent in how he tries to get Kim back."
"You may not feel sorry for Kim," Noah said, "But what she’s going through is terrifying to watch. And it shines a spotlight on what so many women go through when they choose to leave [toxic relationships]."
"What we’re seeing is one of the most powerful, one of the richest women in the world, unable to get her ex to stop texting her, to stop chasing after her, to stop harassing her," he continued. "Just think about that for a moment. Think about how powerful Kim Kardashian is, and she can’t get that to happen."
Noah's comments clearly weren't welcomed by West, who took to Instagram to attack him, repeatedly referring to him as a "k***", per The Independent.
The Daily Show host responded to the since-deleted post, saying: "You’re an indelible part of my life Ye. Which is why it breaks my heart to see you like this. I don’t care if you support Trump and I don’t care if you roast Pete. I do however care when I see you on a path that’s dangerously close to peril and pain."
"Oh and as for k***… clearly some people graduate but we still stupid. Don’t ever forget, the biggest trick racists ever played on Black people was teaching us to strip each other of our Blackness whenever we disagree," he added.
Instagram owner Meta took swift action against West for his hate-filled attack, as did the Grammys, who removed him from the lineup for their upcoming show due to his "concerning online behavior", People reports.
