Trisha Paytas has divided audiences with her "controversial" costume for Halloween.
Now, despite Halloween being over, it seems as though some people are still caught up over Trisha Paytas' attempt at transforming herself into Ice Spice for a day.
Taking to Instagram, the former YouTube sensation posted a series of snaps showing off a glamorous hot pink three-piece which consisted of a mini skirt, a V-hem corset top and a feathery shawl over the shoulders. The star paired the look with strappy platform heels and a copper-colored wig to mimic Ice Spice's iconic look while she posed for the camera.
"I’m thick because I be eating oats," she wrote in the caption. "Halloween costume reveal #2."
Have a look at the post below:While the outfit itself seemed pretty impressive - not just for the glamor of it all, but more so for the accuracy portrayal of the Barbie World rapper - some fans weren't happy after seeing the photos.
"What the f***," commented one user under the post, while another accused the star of clout chasing writing: "White woman cosplaying as a black girl for views."
A third also stated: "White person to white person - Trisha you can’t be doing this..."
However, other fans jumped in to defend Paytas, stating that she was not being offensive or using "blackface" to offend others.
"I hate when people mean well but don’t know what they’re talking about," this user wrote. "This is not blackface, in fact this is what black people ask of non black people. Relay the persons likeness without darkening the skin/trying to appear black."
And another also stated a similar thing saying: "Why are people trying to cancel this? She’s just wearing a ginger curly wig and the same outfit. There’s no way y’all are trying to cancel this. Y'all need to touch some grass."
Thankfully, there were also lots of comments praising the star for being iconic.
"This is so iconic," wrote one person.
"It’s amazing how literally every glam works on you," said another.
And this user was clearly impressed with Paytas' dedication to pulling off the look writing: "This is everything I wanted and more."
And it seems as though the woman of the hour, Ice Spice, also agreed with the praise, reposting Paytas' images to her own social media confirming to fans that she was in fact supportive of the 35-year-old's costume.
We love a supportive queen.
Paytas' costume joins a long list of other impressive costumes we had the pleasure of witnessing this Halloween including the likes of Zayn Malik, Heidi Klum and Paris Hilton - all of whom managed to secure their positions in our list of most iconic Halloween costumes of 2023 which you can read by clicking here.
