Social media users have reacted to Adele looking less than thrilled after Harry Styles won Album of the Year at the 2023 Grammy awards.

On Sunday night (February 5), the 29-year-old singer was nominated for six awards, winning the Best Pop Vocal Album and the most coveted award of the evening - Album of the Year - for Harry's House.

The former One Direction star also performed his number one single 'As It Was' before picking up his golden trophies at the 65th annual edition of the awards.

After Styles' name was announced for the last prize of the night, he buried his head in his hands as everyone around him - including fellow nominee Lizzo - jumped to their feet for a standing ovation.

However, as the 34-year-old musician - whose real name is Melissa Viviane Jefferson - hugged the 'Watermelon Sugar' hitmaker, online users pointed out that Adele stayed seated and offered a tight smile.

Also, another angle from inside the venue showed the 34-year-old 'Hello' singer's exact reaction when Styles was announced as the winner of the award.

Many people on the social media platform shared their responses to Adele's reaction, with one person writing: "Adele’s reaction to Harry winning album of the year is not it… those are her peers, she’s been around for quite some time now, and everyone should be happy for one another."

Another said: "Just saw a video of adele’s reaction when harry won literally WTF SHE MADE IT SO OBVIOUS SHE WAS P**SED DID SHE FORGET SHE WAS ON LIVE TV WITH EYES ON HER like girl have some respect please. Just put on a smile and be happy for others that was so unprofessional."

However, a third person pointed out: "Literally Adele’s reaction to Harry’s win. She & Lizzo we’re happy for him. They’re friends. They’ve vacationed together & had dinner together. All this hate & vitriol for nothing."

Some people think the 'Rolling in the Deep' songstress' immediate reaction was because her album 30 was nominated in the same category. However, other users have shared that it was most likely that she was shocked that Beyoncé's Renaissance did not receive the top award.

Previously, she spoke out on the 41-year-old singer's behalf when her album 25 beat Lemonade to win Album of the Year at the 2017 Grammys, saying on stage: "My artist of my life is Beyonce, and the Lemonade album is so monumental."

And in the press room, she continued: "I felt it was her time to win," adding, "What the f*** does she have to do to win album of the year? That’s how I feel," per NME.

This is the fourth time Beyoncé has been nominated - and lost - for the prestigious award. Before her 2017 loss, her I Am … Sasha Fierce album yielded to Taylor Swift’s Fearless in 2010, and in 2015 her self-titled album lost to Beck's Morning Phase.

However, the 'Crazy in Love' hitmaker still had a historic night as she picked up four Grammys, taking her total number of Grammy Awards to 32, and triumphed as the most-awarded artist in history.
