In the wake of the sexual assault allegations against
Harvey Weinstein, and roughly
40,000 other people in Hollywood, #MeToo spread as a viral hashtag on Twitter. The meaning of "#MeToo" is pretty obvious. After remaining silent for so long, women are feeling empowered to speak out against sexual assault, sexual harassment and all kinds of misogynistic behavior.

The phrase was originally popularized by actress Alyssa Milano, who tweeted, "If all the women who have been sexually harassed or assaulted wrote 'Me too.' as a status, we might give people a sense of the magnitude of the problem." Since then, the hashtag has become a rallying cry, with millions of women sharing personal stories about the harassment and abuse they've faced in their lives. The movement was so powerful that Time Magazine chose these 'silence breakers' as their annual Person Of The Year.
However,
semi-retired boxer Floyd "Money" Mayweather is evidently not aware of the #MeToo movement. At the annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, he took the stage to hawk his new virtual reality boxing game, which doubles as a Mayweather-approved "workout experience." After the presentation, Men's Health interviewed Floyd, and asked him what he thought of the #MeToo movement. The question isn't totally out of left field, considering the former boxing champ has a long, disturbing history of domestic violence. Perhaps he would take the opportunity to apologize for his past behavior, and issue a statement of support for abused women. But nope! He didn't know what the hell the interviewer was talking about. His answers are totally ignorant, but also, totally hilarious:
"Men's Health: We're asking a lot of men, in light of the #MeToo movement, how men can grow in 2018.
Floyd Mayweather: The who?
Men's Health: The #MeToo movement. Women speaking out about sexual assault.
Floyd Mayweather: When you say "me too" ... When somebody is like, "I got a Rolls Royce, I be like 'me too.'" When somebody say they got a private jet, I say, "Me too. I got two. Me too."
Men's Health: This is a very different —
Floyd Mayweather: Well, I didn't know! My Me Too movement from the beginning was whenever somebody said what they have I'm like, "me too." Somebody say they got a billion dollars, I say, 'I made a billion dollars, me too.'
The Internet was
not very happy about Floyd's clueless comments, but in his defense, he's been hit in the head a bunch of times. Like, a whole bunch of times. I'm surprised he can even form complete sentences. Plus, what's the big deal? He goes on to say sexual harassment is "not cool at all," and that's something, right?
"Men's Health: I know you have a sensitive side. You’ve talked about your sensitive side before.
Floyd Mayweather: Of course. I mean, you live and you learn. I think everyone, if you’re in an uncomfortable position, you have to pray about it, you know, talk about it, and I think that, you know, sexual harassment, I don’t think it’s cool at all."
You hear that, kids? Sexual harassment is not cool. So, if you've ever been a victim of sexual harassment or assault, say "Me too." And if you ever hear somebody say they have a Rolls-Royce or a private jet, say "me too." And if you ever hear somebody say they got a billion dollars, say "I made a billion dollars. Me too." I think we all learned something today.
