Ever since all 10 seasons of the cult sitcom,
Friends, landed on Netflix in the UK, the world has found itself knee-deep in Nineties nostalgia. Long-time fans of the television show have been using the Netflix release as an opportunity to catch up with their old favourites, Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Chandler, Ross and Joey, and a whole new generation of viewers have been introduced to what might just become their favourite television series too.
But apparently amidst all the excitement, fans have found themselves duped into believing that a feature-length Friends film is coming out.
Since the hugely popular television show, Friends, wrapped back in 2004, viewers have been hoping that it would return for a reunion season or movie. So when a new trailer, allegedly for a Friends movie, made the rounds on the internet over the weekend, it sent fans into an excited tizzy.
However, the YouTube video that led fans to believe that a Friends reunion may finally be happening 14 years later, turned out to be a hoax. The three-minute trailer, titled "The One With The Reunion" certainly seems like it's the real deal. Watch it below.

Fans were overjoyed by the "news", taking to social media to express their delight at the fact that the cast of Friends was returning, but this time to the big screen. One Twitter user wrote "If this is really happening... I’m gonna cry and smile and laugh and scream all at the same time!!", while another had a more sobering experience, writing "Finding out that they made a 'Friends' movie and then finding out it was a hoax within the course of 3 minutes was not the way I wanted to wake up today, I'm going to be emotionally unavailable for a week now".

In the trailer, all of the characters appear to reconnect. In one scene, Chandler is seen running up to Monica, and in another Rachel and Monica appear to be catching up outside a character's home.
Matt LeBlanc's alter-ego, Joey is also seen bonding with
David Schwimmer's Ross at a party.
In just two days, the teaser trailer garnered over three million views on the video sharing platform. However, fans quickly realised that it was just too good to be true. Many clips featured in the trailer were taken from the television show, Cougar Town, one of Matt LeBlanc's recent shows. And as many people pointed out, the cast of Friends have, time and time again, stated that they have no interest whatsoever in doing a reunion.
While many Friends fans will be disappointed by this recent turn of events, I think we're wholly justified in re-watching the television show through seasons 1 to 10 in order to get over the whole debacle. Thank you, Netflix.
