George Clooney has spoken out about his wealth and why he once turned down $35 million for a day's work.
The 60-year-old actor recently spoke to The Guardian about his recent projects and ever-increasing wealth. During the interview, the Ocean's Eleven star was asked if he ever says to himself: "You know what? I think I have enough money now."
To which, Clooney responded: "Well, yeah. I was offered $35m for one day’s work for an airline commercial, but I talked to Amal about it and we decided it’s not worth it."
Clooney married wife Amal, a human rights lawyer, back in September of 2014. The ceremony took place at the Ca' Farsetti palace in Venice, Italy, and the pair were married by the former mayor of Rome, Walter Veltroni.
After confiding in his wife about the airline commercial, Clooney went on to explain: "It was [associated with] a country that, although it’s an ally, is questionable at times, and so I thought: 'Well, if it takes a minute’s sleep away from me, it’s not worth it.'"
Forbes magazine states that, back in 2017, Clooney received an annual take-home higher than any actor in history - but it wasn't for a movie role, it was for his tequila.
Clooney co-founded the tequila company Casamigos with friends Rande Gerber and Mike Meldman, and the trio's hard work quickly led to it becoming the fastest-growing super-premium tequila brand in the United States.
Casamigos was eventually acquired by British liquor giant Diageo for $700 million.
Check out the trailer for Clooney's latest project, The Tender Bar:Elsewhere in the interview, Clooney revealed how he has been able to become one of the most successful actors alive today, without having any scandals or public embarrassments against him - and he puts it all down the age.
He says: "I was 33, 34 when ER took off, so I was older, right?"
Comparing his trajectory into fame with his aunt, beloved singer Rosemary Clooney, he explained: "Rosemary was a huge singer – huge! And then rock’n’roll came and she lost her career. And she didn’t get it, because at 21 she thought she was the real deal and by 26 it was gone. So, I’m lucky enough to understand how little the fame side has to do with me."

If you didn't know already, George Clooney is a bit of a prankster. Aside from his many leading roles and Oscar wins, Hollywood knows him as someone willing to the extra mile to dupe his friends and co-stars.
There are dozens of examples out there, from the time he found a painting in the trash and convinced his friend that he'd painted it for them, leaving them to hang it on the wall for years - to the time he drank a producer under the table by drinking water instead of vodka.

His Hail, Caesar! co-star Alden Ehrenreich once recalled that the 57-year-old actor convinced him, Channing Tatum, Josh Brolin and Jonah Hill to turn their backs to the cameras at the film's premiere. "So we did it and George didn't," Ehrenreich said. "There's a great picture of George laughing at the camera with Josh and us looking like idiots."
Then there's the time that Matt Damon was staying at Clooney's villa in Italy, where he was hoping to slim down for a role.
Clooney convinced the wardrobe girl to take his Damon's trousers in an "eighth of an inch" every few days:

"He was then just eating a grape and saying, ‘I don’t understand why I’m getting fatter,’" Clooney said on The Graham Norton Show. "I did that for about three weeks.”
It's weird to think this of such a prestige actor, but Clooney definitely has a peculiar sense of humour - and it hasn't left him as he's embraced fatherhood either. He and his wife Amal married in 2014, and now have eleven-month-old twins Alexander and Ella to look after.
He spoke about what it's like to have kids on a recent episode of Good Morning Britain, where he spoke to hosts Charlotte Hawkins and Kate Garraway. "I thought my life would be focused on my career, not relationships, and I'd sort of accepted that," he said. "And then. . . all of a sudden we have these two knuckleheads around who make me laugh every day."

In the same interview, he shared a story that wasn't quite as sweet. He once played a trick on a housekeeper, where he pretended to eat from a dirty diaper. Yep, you read that right. But don't worry - it was just Nutella inside...
"I was shooting a TV show in Italy and I went and got a new nappy and I put Nutella in it and threw it in the trash can. I came in an hour later and there was an Italian housekeeper in this house that we were staying in.
"I said 'Amal wants to know if the Alexander did poo poo or pee pee, poo poo or pee pee?'. I opened up the trash and got the nappy, (holding it up) I rubbed it in my face and tasted it, and she screamed and ran out of the room."
Yeah, that sounds about right.
And it looks like the Clooney pranks aren't going to end with him, as he explained he hopes the kids will learn a thing or two from him as they grow up. "I'm going to teach my kids a lot of good tricks," he said.
