"I first met Jennifer over five years ago, and it was at a small dinner party at [studio executive] Michael Burns' house," Lansing said.
"There were about 12 people there and Michael came over to me and he asked me if I could sit next to Jennifer. He told me he was worried about her.
"Michael told me that Hunger Games was about to come out and he believed that it was going to be a hugely successful film and he said that Jennifer had absolutely no idea how his life was going to change."
73-year-old Lansing, who had a long career in Hollywood as an actress and later as a studio executive, described Lawrence as "a highly confident woman" saying that she didn't think the star "needed any advice from anyone".
"But then, Jennifer did something quite remarkable," she added.
"She turned to me and she said, 'I know Michael is worried about me, and I know he wanted you to talk to me but please don't worry about me.'"
She recalled how Lawrence told her: "I have a secret. I always knew I was going to be famous, so I am totally prepared for it."
"In that simple, direct honesty I actually knew everything I needed to know about Jennifer," Lansing added.
"I knew she was a very, very special person and I knew she was going to be more than fine."
The Leadership Award was presented to Lawrence at The Hollywood Reporter's annual Power 100 Women in Entertainment breakfast on Wednesday, and she is the youngest person to have ever received it at 27. Past recipients have included Oprah Winfrey, Diane Keaton, Shona Rhimes, Meryl Streep, Helen Mirren, Jodie Foster and Halle Berry. [[twitterwidget||https://twitter.com/morrisonjlaw/status/938574676636217344]] Lansing concluded her speech saying: “I know that Jennifer will continue to be a role model and an inspiration for women everywhere. Because of Jennifer, I believe that young people will view philanthropy and giving back as just a natural part of their lives.” Lawrence took the stage to accept the award before addressing the star-studded crowd with her own powerful speech. She thanked all the influential women in the film industry who "stood up to adversity", giving a special shout-out to several women in the room including Rhimes, Gal Gadot and Angelina Jolie. "Let's be outspoken, let's be resilient, let's all be silence breakers," said Lawrence, voicing her dream to create an environment "where outspoken women matter, where outspoken women lead." Jennifer Lawrence has revealed why she chooses not to speak out publicly against Donald Trump anymore. The Oscar‑winning actor says that although she has been open about political views in the past, she no longer believes such comments serve the wider good.
Lawrence points out that after backing candidates like Joe Biden in 2020 and Kamala Harris in 2024, she changed her mind about the value of high‑profile endorsements. She told PEOPLE earlier that she was voting for Kamala Harris “because I think she’s an amazing candidate and I know that she will do whatever she can to protect reproductive rights.”
She also noted: “I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady‑handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos.”
Lawrence explained that when Trump first took office she was very outspoken, but after seeing how little impact celebrity endorsements had on elections she began to question her role.
“I don’t really know if I should,” she told the New York Times. “During the first Trump administration, I felt like I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off. But as we’ve learned, election after election, celebrities do not make a difference whatsoever on who people vote for.”
She went on to ask: “So then what am I doing? I’m just sharing my opinion on something that’s going to add fuel to a fire that’s ripping the country apart.”
Lawrence also reflected on her decision to shift how she engages politically. When asked if she regretted speaking out during Trump’s first term she replied: “Probably? I regret everything I’ve ever done or said.”
She added: “I’m going to take the zip drives out of all of these cameras when I leave. The second term feels different. Because he said what he was going to do. We knew what he did for four years. He was very clear. And that’s what we chose.”
Currently promoting her upcoming film Die My Love, which opens in cinemas on November 7, Lawrence appears more focused on letting her work speak for itself rather than the headlines.

Jennifer Lawrence has revealed that she used to be a Republican voter before Donald Trump was elected to office.
In a recent appearance on the podcast Absolutely Not, the 30-year-old Hunger Games actress opened up about her prior political affiliations, stating that she was raised in a moderately conservative household and voted for John McCain back in 2008.
In the interview in question, Lawrence stated: "It's extremely hard to talk about politics. You don't want to. I'm an actor, I want everyone to see my movies [...] My first time voting, I voted for John McCain. I was a little Republican."
However, Lawrence stated that her politics changed after Donald Trump assumed office, and she became more and more jaded with his administration.
Lawrence continued:
"When Donald Trump got elected that just changed everything. Because this is an impeached president who's broken many laws and has refused to condemn white supremacy.
"It feels like there has been a line drawn in the sand. I don't want to support a president who supports white supremacists."
Lawrence spoke about the importance of voting in the following YouTube video:

In a previous interview with comedian Ilana Glazer, Lawrence also spoke about her change in beliefs, stating:
"I'm grateful in a weird way that I have the Republican perspective, growing up in a house of Republicans and hearing why we should vote Republican, for tax reasons, for religious reasons [...] you grow up and start becoming a citizen of the world and my personal beliefs started to change.
"I thought... I guess it is fair for me to pay taxes because that's kind of like paying rent to live in this amazing country, and I like things like hospitals and schools and it makes sense to pull my part as a citizen to make this country as great as could be."

But Lawrence isn't just making a foray into the world of politics.
She's also returning to acting after a two-year-long hiatus and joining the star-studded cast of Adam McKay's upcoming Netflix satire Don't Look Up, which also stars Jonah Hill, Leonardo DiCaprio, Cate Blanchette, Himesh Patel, Timothée Chalamet, and Ariana Grande.

Jennifer Lawrence is starring in a new movie but it seems like some people having an issue with the age gap between the leading actress and her co-star.
Lawrence is one of Hollywood's most famous actresses and the movies that feature her usually do very well at the box office, partly because of her appeal.
Though whether that continues with her new project is yet to be seen as she appears in No Hard Feelings, where she is tasked with seducing a 19-year-old.
For reference, Lawrence is 32 years old and during the movie, her character is in desperate need of some quick cash but her fortunes appear to turn when a mother and father hire her to sleep with their "un-f***able" son played by Andrew Garth Feldman.
See the trailer for No Hard Feelings below:The storyline on IMDb reads: "Lawrence's character portrays the 'ne'er-do-well' who answers a Craigslist ad that was placed to hire a date for an introverted and socially awkward teen boy, by his mother and father, who also just so happens to be preparing for college soon."
Some are pleasantly surprised to see Lawrence taking part in a comedy, especially after some of her more serious roles such as in the Hunger Games series.
Thought it would appear that not everybody is too impressed with the 32-year-old's new project, due to the age difference and sexual content between herself and a young man.
Under the trailer on Facebook, one person wrote: "This is so gross. Just no. 19yo being groomed/seduced by however older she’s supposed to be here (I’m assuming at least 30+ with a house and all of that) this is gross."
A second rightfully pointed out that the events of the movie would be seen a predatory if the tables were turned. They wrote: "Turn the tables on this movie an old guy dating a 19-year-old female... oh my goodness wouldn't there be an uproar."
Though there were supporters for the new movie, which in fairness does look pretty funny.
One supporter said: "It’s actually great to see Jennifer Lawrence play someone not so serious. Everytime I see a movie with her casted she’s always a serious character. Katniss, Mystique, Red Sparrow etc [sic]."
Another added: "Seriously been a while since a trailer actually got me excited about a movie this looks hilarious."
It looks like mixed reviews for the new movie... We'll find out how it goes down when it's released on June 23.
