It's a fact that a lot of people are feeling pretty bored while self-isolating, no-one more so than all those culture vultures out there. Indeed, being stuck indoors means that you can kiss goodbye to going to art galleries and viewing exhibitions in person.
But this doesn't mean you have to devolve into a total Philistine, and this week Getty has reignited our love of art history after they challenged their Twitter followers to recreate famous masterpieces at home.
Check out this pilot's hilariously cheeky 'artwork' in the video below:It all started when the Getty museum's official Twitter account uploaded four examples of homemade art recreations, along with the caption: "We challenge you to recreate a work of art with objects (and people) in your home ... Choose your favorite artwork Find three things lying around your house ... Recreate the artwork with those items ... And share with us."
As you can see from the examples below, a number of the Getty museum's followers wasted no time in posting their own recreations of a number of famous pieces, including A Hare in the Forest by Hans Hoffmann, The Astronomer by Johannes Vermeer, and Icarus by Henri Matisse, amongst many others.

Commenting on his (literal) pet project in an interview with The Art Newspaper, Filippo Lorenzin stated: "It was fun to play around with the white cube aesthetics and the raw energy of our gerbils [...] We hope this will make people who are stuck at home recall good memories in museums and encourage them to support institutions in such uncertain times."
