A video of a grandmother interrupting her granddaughter's Zoom class to argue with the teacher about Black Lives Matter has gone viral.
The clip shows one of the students recording his laptop screen, showing a Zoom class taking place.
The grandmother can be seen on webcam arguing with the teacher after the subject of Black Lives Matter was raised in the class, as the teacher tries to explain to the woman: "All we’re talking about are historical events."
You can see the now-viral video below:As several of the children watch on in shock, the grandmother can be seen wagging her finger and telling the teacher: "No, you’re talking about BLM and all that stuff. And we’re not going to talk about it. Unless you want to hear what I have to say."
The grandmother then bizarrely adds: "And Barack Obama was biracial. He wasn’t just black. He should have owned both sides of his family."
Attempting to diffuse the situation the teacher then explains: "Ma'am… Ma'am… we’re reading a story about a historical event and the question was presented to the students as 'What’s the most important historical event that’s happened in your lifetime?'"
Unable to comprehend that the BLM protests and movement are an important historical event that has happened in the students' lifetime, the grandmother replies asking: "Well how did BLM show up?"
"Your granddaughter brought it up," the teacher replied - causing her granddaughter to deny ever raising the issue.
Uploaded to the popular social media platform by user @Stayflyest, the video was captioned: "Karen found in Zoom Class going off".
Of course, in 2020, Dictionary.com defines the name Karen as:
"Karen is a pejorative slang term for an obnoxious, angry, entitled, and often racist middle-aged white woman who uses her privilege to get her way or police other people's behaviors.
"In 2020, Karen spread as a label used to call out white women who were captured in viral videos engaging in what are widely seen as racist acts."
The video has since been viewed over 1.7 million times (as of this writing).
In a follow-up video, the granddaughter can be heard shouting: "I’m over it - just shut the f**k up!"
To which the teacher warns: "Zip it! Everything is being recorded so… You don’t really want to mess up here."
