Hunter Biden says he’s ‘48 percent gay’ as he explains sexuality
The son of former Democrat President Joe Biden recently opened up about his sexuality in a podcast interview.
Hunter Biden, 56, who has been married to Melissa Cohen for seven years, described himself as a “little bit gay” in his recent appearance on the Luke Beasley Show podcast.
The host asked rather bluntly at the beginning of the interview: “Are you gay?”, which was received surprisingly well by the former first son, and he answered with honesty.
Biden gave a very specific number to describe how gay he considers himself
In response, Biden said: “Only a little bit.”
After being grilled by Beasley on what he meant by this and if he was “more or less than 50 percent” gay, Biden replied with a very specific figure of “48.6 percent.”
In the most predictable way for a straight male podcaster to respond, Beasley responded by asking if he was Biden’s “type.”
Teasing the attorney and businessman, Beasley then pulled out his phone and showed Biden an AI-generated picture of the pair hugging, with Biden’s hand placed on the podcaster’s waist.
Mocking his willingness to talk openly about his sexuality, Beasley added: “If I’m not your type, then why did you embrace me like this? Go ahead, take a look.”
Taking the teasing on the chin, Biden joined in on the joke and responded: “Oh Jesus Christ, I don’t know. I just, it all is coming back to me.
“I was in a stupor at that point. I think that was pre-2019 when I got sober,” he joked, referring to his well-known struggles with substance abuse.
The conversation moved on from sexuality, but it was brought up later in the episode, this time by Biden himself. He said: “Maybe I take back 48.5" percent.
He quickly quipped: “More like 47 [percent] after that conversation. My gaydom went down a percentage point.”
Biden quickly changes his mind again
However, at the end of the almost 90-minute interview, which Biden clearly enjoyed, he said: "I just wanted to let you know that I am back up to 48.5 percent gay.”
Although the son of America’s 46th president has spoken fairly openly about his sexuality in the past, the interview may have surprised some listeners, as Biden has been married to two women and fathered children with his first wife, Kathleen Buhle.
He married his current wife, Cohen, in 2019, just six days after the couple met.
Just last month, Biden spoke out about his father's cancer, telling the BBC that the disease is now "very painful and debilitating".
He explained: "The cancer has spread, metastasized into his bones and further. It’s very painful and it’s very debilitating in many respects."
Hunter admitted: "It’s really sad to watch. The only thing that I’d say about my dad, about his health right now, is I wish he would complain more, because it’s not good."
