However, unlike the aforementioned, this very personal milestone is one many would want to forget, and that includes celebrities, with Britney Spears the latest to reveal all about popping her cherry.

Tales of embarrassment, awkwardness, pain, and premature ejaculation are often regaled years after the event, but still have the very real power of transposing us back to that particular period.

In the singer’s explosive memoir, The Woman in Me, the …Baby One More Time performer offers the juicy scoop on when she lost her chastity.

In her deeply intimate account, Spears explores her three-year romance with fellow artist Justin Timberlake, with the couple dating between 1999 and 2000.

Yet, it was when, how, and to whom she lost her virginity that caught the attention of many. She wrote: "The truth was, if you’re young and single in Hollywood, if there’s even a rumor that you’ve had sex, you’re labelled a slut. So my team created this whole narrative around me."

Having successfully concealed the age at which she lost her V-plates, the blonde bombshell divulged that she first had sex at the age of 14, four years younger than the legal age in the U.S. However, more shockingly, the Toxic singer revealed that the guy in question was her brother’s childhood best friend.

Miley Cyrus

While the Hannah Montana star dated her co-Disney star, Nick Jonas, as a teenager, it transpired that it wasn’t the youngest of the heartthrob trio who she first slept with.

Discussing her sexual history on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Cyrus said: "I didn’t go all the way with a dude until I was 16... but I ended up marrying the guy."

That guy was The Hunger Games actor Liam Hemsworth, who was two years her senior. Like many a virgin, Cyrus admitted that she’d lied about doing the deed before to him so that she didn't come across as a 'loser'.

Chris Evans

1999 was a big year for the action-comedy star, being in his senior year at college and having just sealed his first acting gig, he also sowed his seed for the first time.

"I just f**ked off," he said of the move to Esquire. "I lost my virginity that year. 1999 was one of the best years of my life."

Khloe Kardashian

Khloé Kardashian is widely known for speaking openly about her personal life. In the past, she shared that her mother once criticized her after a date because she hadn’t been intimate with an NBA player she went out with.

Elsewhere, the 40-year-old shared that she lost her virginity at the age of 15. In a post to her now-defunct app in 2016, Kardashian wrote: "It's not funny to lose your virginity! It's weird and you're scared and it hurts and you don't know what will happen. I was 15 and he was an older guy who wasn't a virgin. "I don't really remember it hurting but I do remember that I just wanted to get it over with."

Megan Fox

Meanwhile, actor-model Megan Fox was very much 'in love' with the person she first shacked up with, and that was at the age of 17.

"I've had plenty of awkward sex, but that first time was not awkward," she told Cosmopolitan. "I was in love with him, and it was nice."
