Carmen Andrade, one half of the conjoined twin duo known for their candid social media presence, recently tied the knot with her longtime boyfriend, Daniel McCormack.

The couple, who first met on the dating app Hinge in 2020, eloped last October in an intimate ceremony on Lover’s Leap Bridge in New Milford, Connecticut, surrounded by close family.

They've since sat down and discussed how intimacy can work in their relationship.

How They Make It Work

Carmen and Lupita, now 25, were born in Mexico and raised in Connecticut.

Joined at the torso, they share a pelvis, reproductive system, liver, and bloodstream, while each has her own heart and stomach.

They control one leg each — Carmen the right, Lupita the left — a skill that took them 17 years to master.

With such a unique bond, Carmen admits that communication is the foundation of her marriage. “I don’t know how else to put it,” she told People. She explained that if Lupita is ever uncomfortable, “we just respect that.”

For Lupita, who identifies as asexual and aromantic, the arrangement is straightforward. “I have headphones and a phone,” she said. “I don’t care.”

Carmen added that Daniel’s respect for their boundaries is what drew her in: “He didn’t lead with a question about my condition. I have social anxiety, and I’ve ended up cancelling dates at the last minute, but I felt calm on the way there.”

Shutting Down Intrusive Questions

The couple admits that outsiders are often far less respectful than they are with each other.

“People are obsessed with sex, you know?” Daniel said. “And it is just like, frankly, it’s none of your f**king business.”

Carmen added: “I don’t understand why people need to know about my private parts in order (to) humanise us.”

Lupita also dislikes being asked if she could ever see Daniel romantically. “I love him as a brother,” she said firmly. “That’s about it.”

No Plans for Parenthood

Carmen and Daniel have also been clear about not wanting children. “No kids, never plan on it,” Daniel said, joking that he prefers the role of uncle because you can “give them back” at the end of the day.

Carmen has echoed the sentiment, revealing she cannot get pregnant due to endometriosis and hormone blockers. “I never saw myself being a parent,” she said.

Wedding Day Style

Carmen chose a bold look for her big day, stepping away from traditional white in favor of a sparkling emerald green gown. “I did not wear white,” she told TODAY. “Don’t regret it. I don’t like white. That’s not my thing.”

Daniel, 28, complemented her outfit in a dark suit with an emerald bow tie and sunflower boutonniere that matched Carmen’s bouquet. The October celebration also marked the couple’s fifth anniversary together.

Life Beyond the Wedding

While Carmen once studied veterinary technology, she recently shared that she is no longer pursuing that path.

Instead, she and Lupita are focusing on their growing YouTube channel, which has amassed over 257,000 followers. The sisters post candid updates about their lives along with sketches written by Lupita.

The twins, who doctors once predicted would only live three days, continue to defy expectations.
