Your wedding is supposed to be one of the happiest days of your life. And in the lead-up to the big day, one would hope that you'd only have eyes for your soon-to-be spouse.
You certainly wouldn't be thinking about - or god forbid, messaging - any of your exes moments before tying the knot. Unless, of course, you were having second thoughts, right?
Then again, it's probably not as black-and-white as it seems...
Well, one woman shared screenshots of texts her first love sent her the night before getting married to someone else - and people are seriously divided on the matter.

It all started when a woman named Alexsa received an unexpected message from an old boyfriend - and a very lengthy one at that.
The ex informed Alexsa that he would be getting married the next day and then proceeded to thank her for everything she did for him when they were dating.
The unnamed boyfriend also makes sure to mention that his soon-to-be wife is well aware that he is messaging his ex.

Alexsa felt emotional when she received the heartfelt message and even told her ex she was crying. She congratulated the happy pair and told her former flame how proud of him she was.

When Alexsa posted screenshots of the messages on Twitter, they soon went viral. They have since garnered 1.3k replies, 112.3k retweets, and 413.1k likes at the time of writing.
She also revealed later in the thread the reason it didn't work out between the two of them, writing: "We were extremely young. we lost our bestfriend to suicide which is why we have so much respect towards eachother [sic]."
Many of those who read the messages were as overcome with emotion as Alexsa herself.
One person gushed: "Honestly i think this is beautiful . All he is doing is thanking her for helping him become a man. If it wasn’t for their relationship he probably wouldn’t be the man he is for his soon to be wife. Maybe I’m so understanding because i KNOW this would be me and my bf if [sic]."
Another suggested: "Some ppl [sic] think this is weird but it may be bc they’ve never been in it. Its [sic] a lot of mutual respect and genuine love - not the romantic kind at all, just wanting the best in life for the other person and being thankful for how they’ve helped you grow as a person."
A third person shared: "I honestly think this is beautiful. Too many people think you need to hate exes bc it didn’t work out. I’m literally so grateful for my exes bc of how much I have learned and grown. This was so sweet wow yes full support."
But of course, this is the internet, with divisive opinions on pretty much anything.
One of the naysayers felt: "This is weird. Ppl in relationships and still caring about exes honestly a dont [sic] understand that one bit???"
Another said: "If my wife sent this the day of our wedding, that would let me know I almost married a bird & should stay single. It’s OUR big day and you worried bout another man...yeah not spending the rest of my life with you...But that’s just me."
Oh well, you can't please everyone!
