A woman has received an outpouring of praise after sharing how she dealt with a painfully awkward moment while on a date back in 2020.

Sharing her story to TikTok, Kersten Hovis - who uses the handle '@kersten.hovis' on the social media platform - revealed what happened when her date accidentally fat-shamed her in a text message he was supposed to discretely send to his friend.

Hovis captioned the post, "Reality of dating in 2020", and it has since amassed over 6.1 million views and more than 820,000 'likes'.

Kersten has reportedly invited her date, named Seth, round to her house to pick her up, but after meeting for the first time, he took out his phone to write a message to his friend. The problem is, he accidentally sent it to Kersten.

In a message chain between the pair, Seth can be seen alerting Kersten to the fact that he is outside her house, to which she confirms that he is in the right place.

However, another message sent afterwards reads in full: "Headed that way, she's bigger than I thought but holy **** her family is loaded."

Such a charmer. And to play along with the error, Kersten sarcastically responded: "I'll pray for ya bud."

Kersten explained in the comments section that she was in the car with her date, on the way to grab food with another couple when she received the message. Seth had allegedly sent the message just 10 minutes into the journey.

In a follow up video, titled "Part 2! Nothing too crazy. Know your worth ladies and never settle" Kersten revealed what happened next.

"I looked at him and I was like, 'You didn't mean to send that, did you?' And he was like, 'No'.

"I was like, 'Well you can just turn this car right back around'. And that's what he did.

"I just told him how insecure he was and how shallow he was, and I knew that's why he was still single. So we sat in awkward silence for the ten minute ride home."

Concluding the tale, Kersten said that she refused to be demoralized by the experience, stating:

"I'm 5 ft 9, I don't expect myself to be a twig. I have some thighs, it's okay, I love that about myself.

"I'm beautiful and your opinion doesn't change my opinion of myself. If anything, it just lets me know what I deserve even more."

In the comments section, Kersten was flooded with praise with the way she dealt with the rude lothario:

Kersten, you absolutely do deserve better and you handled the situation like a queen!
