Concerned social media users have slammed a mother after she named her baby after her favorite food.

Choosing a name for your newborn is a difficult task for many, as this person will have to carry it with them for the rest of their life - unless they decide to change it.

We've noticed that in recent years, some parents have opted for unique monikers for their children rather than a common name.

In this case, one particular parent decided that the best way to introduce their newborn daughter to the world was by naming her after their favorite snack.

According to the Daily Mail, a proud grandmother took to Facebook to share a sweet picture of her granddaughter with her older brother, Nicholas.

She shared her joy at the new arrival and reportedly penned under the sweet post: "It's official, my daughter gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Now their family is complete."

The delighted grandparent then told followers that the baby's name was Avacuddo, which seems to be a misspelling of avocado. "Welcome baby Avacuddo. Nicholas now has a  baby sister," she wrote.

The baby was born around August 2019 but the posts showing off her name have only recently gained traction after they were shared on various social media platforms.

One person on Facebook slammed the parent, writing: "The stupidity of some people giving their child a fruits name is only [asking] that your child be bullied, and when it is it will be no one's fault but your own!"

Another angry user blasted: "Absolutely ridiculous. It’s child cruelty, just because the parents want to be 'different,'" while a third criticized: "So stupid do you know how that child will be teased for the rest of his life. Bringing serious issues."

A fourth added: "Parents STOP setting your kids up with your foolishness. This is not cute!"

In an interview with the outlet, Nameberry's CEO Pamela Redmond revealed that parents struggle to pick a name that essentially sets the tone for their child's life because "a name says so much about your personal and family identity".

"A name signals your feelings about your family, your cultural heritage, your style, your desire to fit in or stand out in society," she continued. "And a name is a one-time decision that lasts for your child's entire life - at least unless they decide to change it!"
