A family were left stunned after they discovered a creepy detail in a photo on the wall of the Airbnb they were staying in.
In recent years, many people are choosing to stay in Airbnbs over hotels for their vacations, in order to get the 'home from home' experience, as well as it often working out as a cheaper option for larger parties.
The decor within them is dependent on the host, with many choosing to add artwork to the walls to give it a more inviting feel.
However, for one family, a photo on the wall of their Airbnb left them stunned - after they realized it contained their family members.
Aubrey Birrell took to TikTok to reveal the unexpected discovery after she and her family checked into their accommodation in California.
The family noticed a generic beach photo on the wall of their Airbnb in San Diego, but were not expecting to find their loved ones within the snap when they took a closer look.
Aubrey told her followers: "The weirdest thing happened. We get to our Airbnb in San Diego... it's unsettling.
"A random Airbnb, and we're looking through it, no connections to it. We're looking at this picture and my dad is like 'this looks like me.'"
She then pointed out a man in the water on the beach snap, before adding: "And I'm like 'Oh dad, what?' No, this is my dad, that's my sister, Libby, 10 years ago, and that's Brady, my brother, 10 years ago. They're literally in the Airbnb picture."
Libby then added: "We have those swimsuits, we are literally in this picture. We are on our Airbnb wall!"
Aubrey commented: "It's the craziest thing. It's crazy. This can't be real."
The pair admitted that it had left them "spiralling" to realize that the completely random Airbnb that they'd booked had a photograph of them from a decade earlier.
Social media users quickly flooded the comments, writing: "That means you're on a lot more walls than you realize," and: "also what are the odds of you looking that closely at the picture?"
Others added: "I’ve always wondered how many pictures I’m in that I’ve never seen and don’t know about," and: "Everyone’s scared but I’d take it as a sign that you were meant to be there, I think that’s so cool!"
Some joked: "Proof we live in a simulation," "Literally sounds like the start of a horror movie," and: "Tag me when the documentary comes out."
Others had similar stories of bizarre coincidences, adding: "Similar crazy story: my uncle got a postcard from Mackinac Island, and my grandfather was randomly in the photo eating an ice cream cone. He had passed away years earlier," and: "I once checked into a hotel at the beach, in the middle of a thunderstorm. I grabbed a newspaper to hold over my head. When I got to the room, I looked at the paper and there was a pic of my mom and I on the front page. It was from a festival in the beach town, 3 years before!"
Another user revealed: "I went to the store to buy a frame for my brother and his new wife as a gift. While I was waiting at the register to pay for it, I glanced at the picture that came with the frame. To my shock, the model in the picture was actually my brother‘s ex-wife who was, in fact, a model. I quickly went back and found a different frame."
