Anyone who had the pleasure of growing up in the late nineties will be familiar the seminal sitcom
. Renowned for its zany cast, as well as its now nostalgia-inducing depiction of
, the quintessential 90s sitcom still boasts a loyal fanbase, many of whom continue to revisit the 10 seasons 13 years after they originally wrapped.
Viewers came to know Ross,
, Monica, Chandler, Phoebe and Joey as well as their own friends. I mean, Ross was always there for some comedic relief, Monica, we related to in times of neurosis, and of course, we always had Joey to affectionately poke fun at.
And while we now puzzle over how six friends in relatively low-paying jobs managed to afford such a large, and gorgeous abode, we can't help — return to the show, time and time again, in all of its unrealistic glory.
In fact, those who starred in the show, despite going on to have relatively successful careers, still get quizzed over their character in Friends whenever they are interviewed. In fact,
- that is, Joey Tribbiani, recently revealed a little-known secret about his character...
While Matt LeBlanc has retained his youthful good looks, at 50 years old, the actor has naturally sprouted some grey hairs. But according to LeBlanc, who recently appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden, he actually started going grey during the second season of the hit sitcom. And as such, he had to dye his hair the entire time he was filming Friends.
This, however, was a process that viewers never saw whilst watching the show, as producers didn't think that a salt-and-pepper Joey
Tribbiani would quite cut it for viewers. But in typical Joey-fashion, it was
not
a seamless operation.
Speaking to
, LeBlanc revealed that he faced a hair-dying disaster whilst on the set of Friends.
When the actor started greying during the second season of the show, he quickly got fed up of sitting in the salon chair for hours on end, and endeavoured to find an easier solution, which came in the form of Just For Men.
According to LeBlanc, this reduced his colour appointments from an eye-watering two hours to just five minutes. So he naturally rushed to set to show his new discovery to his hairstylist.
LeBlanc attempted to dye his own hair at home with the drugstore product, but as you can expect, it didn't go to plan. As he tells James Corden: "I come to work the next day [and] my ears are all black." Oops.

Well, I can imagine that Matt LeBlanc's hairstylist wasn't best pleased, but something clearly worked out as we never saw Joey age a day throughout the 10 seasons. However, I can't say that I would be adverse to seeing Joey return to the silver screen as a silver fox...
