Over $40,000 has been raised for the family of Athena Strand, a seven-year-old who was tragically found dead after allegedly being kidnapped by a FedEx driver.

As per NBC News, a community-wide search took place after the seven-year-old was reported missing from her father's home on November 30.

Sadly, her body was discovered roughly 11 miles away from her father's home, southeast of the city of Boyd, on December 2.

CBS News reported that police officials stated that FedEx driver Tanner Lynn Horner, 31, abducted Athena whilst delivering a parcel to her house after her father had left to go hunting and she got into an argument with her stepmother.

In a statement to CNN, FedEx has offered their condolences to Athena's family, stating: "Words cannot describe our shock and sorrow at the reports surrounding this tragic event. First and foremost, our thoughts are with the family during this most difficult time, and we continue to cooperate fully with the investigating authorities."

A GoFundMe page has been set up in order to support Athena's grieving family, and at the time of writing has raised $46,000.

The page, set up by Athena's mother Maitlyn Gandy, outlines what the money will be used for. A statement reads: "All donations are being allocated for justice for Athena. We are greatly moved by all of the support shown in the community.

"Please continue to pray for comfort for the families and first responders and that our goal forward will be to attempt to get justice for Athena and closure for her family."

An update on the page alleges that the abductor gave a full confession to law enforcement and led them to where they could find Athena's body.

Donators to the page have left their sympathies, with one person stating: "My thoughts and prayers are for the family. Justice for ATHENA! Let the world fight to the end for this baby."

A second person said: "No words I know could possibly ease the pain your family must be feeling right now. I just pray you can find peace," and a third added: "Our family is praying for your family and this beautiful little soul."

The statement concludes: "The family asks to remember Athena as she was.. happy, healthy, beautiful, and bright."
