The Fight Of The Century between, erm, Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk appears to have been confirmed, with the Tesla and X owner revealing that the cage fight between the two social media overlords will be streamed on the platform formerly known as Twitter.
The Tesla owner made the announcement on X on Sunday (August 6), confirming that his bout with the Meta CEO will indeed go ahead and that all proceeds made from the live stream will be donated to a charity for veterans.
In a brief post, Musk simply stated, "Zuck v Musk fight will be live-streamed on đť•Ź. All proceeds will go to charity for veterans."
While no date has been confirmed for the fight, the UFC Apex in Nevada has been touted as a likely location, with Zuckerberg recently training with UFC champions Israel Adesanya and Alex Volkanovski.
Musk meanwhile has been keeping his X followers updated on his progress in preparation for the bout, saying "Am lifting weights throughout the day, preparing for the fight. Don’t have time to work out, so I just bring them to work."
Musk made the challenge to Zuckerberg for a fight earlier this year, claiming that he wanted to do battle with his social media billionaire rival inside a cage. The Facebook founder simply replied with a message saying, "send location" referencing a previous tweet by former undefeated UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. Musk responded, "Vegas octagon".
While Zuckerberg has been enlisting the likes of Adesanya and Volkanovski to keep him on his toes, Musk has been training with UFC legend Georges St.Pierre.
Initially there was a heap of skepticism surrounding the validity of Musk's claims about the fight happening. Then UFC President Dana White stepped in to confirm the legitimacy of it happening.
Speaking to TMZ Sports, White said, "This would be the biggest fight ever in the history of the world. Bigger than anything that’s ever been done, it would break all pay-per-view records, these guys would raise hundreds of millions of dollars for charity."
The rivalry between the pair of billionaires has become even more intense over the last few weeks in the wake of the launch of Threads, Instagram's text based app that Zuckerberg rolled out as an alternative to Twitter. The app was monstrously successful in its opening week of operation, with over 100 million users signing up to use it.
Musk threatened legal action over the launch of Threads, claiming Zuckerberg's platform had  "cheated", with claims being made that ex-Twitter engineers had been employed to work on Threads. This claim has been denied by Threads, however.
Recently, Musk also announced that his preferred fighting style would be "WWE" after witnessing footage from the sports entertainment company's most recent SummerSlam event, held at Fors Field in Detroit on Saturday (August 5).
Musk's post was replied to by WWE legend and current Chief Content Office Paul 'Triple H' Levesque, who said, "Say the word, @elonmusk. I know a thing or two about making an X sign."
Who you got for the battle of the billionaires? Musk or Zuckerberg?
