Aubrey Plaza pregnant with first child 15 months after death of husband
Aubrey Plaza is reportedly pregnant with her first child, 15 months after the death of her late husband, Jeff Baena.
According to PEOPLE, a source has revealed that the 41-year-old actress and her current partner, Chris Abbott, will become parents this fall.
"It was a beautiful surprise after an emotional year," the insider said, adding that "they feel very blessed."
Plaza and Abbott, 40, were spotted together at the Khaite Fall/Winter 2026 fashion show during New York Fashion Week earlier this year.
The pair, who have kept their romance away from the spotlight, collaborated on the Off-Broadway revival of Danny and the Deep Blue Sea and the 2020 film Black Bear.
Abbott is currently on Broadway, starring in the revival of Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman opposite Nathan Lane and Laurie Metcalf.
Details About Beana's Death
The baby news comes a year after the White Lotus star's late husband, who was an independent filmmaker, was found dead in his Los Angeles home on January 3, 2025, after dying by suicide.
His dog walker discovered his body after arriving at the house as scheduled, reporting that loud music was playing, which she described as "unusual".
While Baena and Plaza were married for three years, a report from the Los Angeles medical examiner disclosed that the couple had been separated since September 2024 - just four months before his death.
According to E! News, the Parks and Recreation alum was in contact with Baena just hours before his death, exchanging a text message three hours before he was found dead. Additionally, Plaza spoke with him over the phone the night before he died.
Plaza and the filmmaker's family released a joint statement, calling his death: "An unimaginable tragedy...We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support. Please respect our privacy during this time."
Baena’s family later honored his life and work in a heartfelt obituary, writing: "Each of his films reflects a carefully crafted balance of the logical and the implausible. His juxtaposition of intellect and creativity challenged us."
The tribute described him as "a true relationship builder with a gift for bringing people together," adding: "No one ever left his get-togethers as a stranger."
Plaza Opens Up About Grief
A few months after Beana's passing, Plaza opened up about grief during a podcast appearance with her former Parks and Recreation co-star Amy Poehler.
"Right in this very, very present moment, I feel happy to be with you," she said on A Good Hang with Amy Poehler. "I feel...overall I'm here, and I'm functioning, and I feel, you know, I feel really grateful to be moving through the world. I think, like, I'm OK, but you know, it's like a daily struggle."
She compares her grief with the horror movie The Gorge, adding: "That feels like what my grief is like, or what grief could be like. At all times there's like a giant ocean of, just, awfulness, that's like right there, and I can see it."
"And sometimes I just want to like dive into it, and just like be in it, and then sometimes I just like look at it, and then sometimes I just like try to get away from it, but it's always there," she shared.
