A Brendan Fraser fan had to apologize to the beloved actor after their emotional question made appeared to make the star tear up.

Back in the noughties, Fraser was one of Hollywood's biggest stars, with leading roles in blockbusters like The Mummy, George of The Jungle, and Journey to the Center of the Earth.

However, he took a break from acting in the 2010s to deal with personal issues.

On top of the overwhelming amount of injuries he sustained performing his own stunts, Fraser also had to deal with bouts of depression and an alleged incident of sexual assault when he says he was groped by Golden Globes boss Philip Berk.

After spending years in and out of the hospital, Fraser is now making something of a comeback, with leading roles in upcoming films including Batgirl and Darren Aronofsky's The Whale. His return to our screen has been dubbed by fans 'the Brendan Fraser renaissance'.

But that's not to say he doesn't still choke up at the thought of what he's been through.

At a recent Megacon Q&A event, the actor was reduced to tears by one fan's emotionally-loaded question.

Check out the moment below (question at 14:20):

"First of all, I just wanna say thank you for sharing your stories. I know many people - including myself - are survivors, and seeing you talk about it has been one of the most inspirational things I've seen in my life," the fan can be heard saying to Fraser.

They add: "During your kind of renaissance, was there a particular moment where you knew you made the right decision to come back?"

Fraser takes a moment to compose himself but seems unable to answer as he blinks back tears.

"I didn't mean to make you cry, I'm sorry," his fan says quickly.

When he has managed to regain composure, Fraser gives his answer. "Are you ready for this? It was when I got that horse. It was when I got that horse. Who I'm sad to say has gone on to greener pastures, but I learned a great deal."

The actor's heartfelt response was enough to elicit more cheers from the crowd.

Meanwhile, as to what "horse" Fraser is referring to, it seems likely he was alluding to Pecas - a horse who he met while working on the TV series Texas Rising in 2015.

In 2018, he opened up to GQ about the instant connection he felt with the horse, who he later brought back to live with him.

"Without doing too much—what's the word? Anthropomorphic…anthropomorphizing… Without pretending that the animal is a human, he looked like he needed help. Like: 'Get me out of here, man,'" Fraser recalled.

During the same interview, the actor also claimed that his career had been negatively impacted due to an alleged sexual assault at the hands of the former president of the HFPA, Philip Berk, in the summer of 2003.

The actor claimed that Berk groped him inappropriately in a crowded room, in a moment that left the actor overcome with panic and fear.

He told GQ: "Am I still frightened? Absolutely. Do I feel like I need to say something? Absolutely. Have I wanted to many, many times? Absolutely. Have I stopped myself? Absolutely."

Berk has denied any wrongdoing.
