George Clooney breaks silence on Presley Gerber’s 'devastating' death aged 27 with tragic admission
Almost a month after Cindy Crawford’s only son, Presley Gerber, died of a suspected overdose, close family friend and Hollywood A-lister George Clooney has spoken out about the tragedy.
The 27-year-old passed away at a rehab center on September 20 after years of battling addiction.
Clooney, whom Presley and his sister Kaia call 'Uncle George', is very close to Cindy and her husband Rande Gerber and was always there to support their children, according to the Daily Mail.
The actor has been close to the family for decades
A source close to the 65-year-old star said that the actor “would spend hours” speaking to Presley, adding: "George is the nicest guy in the world and would do anything to help Rande’s family."
Speaking about the close relationship between Clooney and Presley, the source added: “Especially after Presley got a DUI, George would advise, ‘Don’t do that, it’s not smart. Be careful.'
“More recently, George shared loving notes like, ‘I am here for you,’ that kind of stuff.”
Clooney and Rande Gerber are longtime close friends and business partners, having co-founded tequila company Casamigos together.
Less than three weeks after the tragic news, George addressed Presley's passing while attending The Albies with his wife, Amal.
While he suggested that he was not quite ready to talk about the male model’s untimely death following years in active addiction, he acknowledged the grief facing Presley's parents and younger sister, Kaia, 25.
In the days immediately after Presley's death, George and Amal were spotted visiting Kaia's Los Angeles home.
Presley reportedly spoke openly about his addiction with Uncle George
According to the source, The Descendants star stated that Clooney's message to the young model was always 'stay clean', after his own run-ins with drugs.
Speaking to the publication, they explained: “He was never addicted, but he tried it and he knows about the attraction to drugs, so he could talk openly with Presley about this and Presley could relate.”
Clooney was certainly shocked and upset by the news of Presley's death, with another alleged source saying: “George is sick over this because Rande is his best friend and everyone felt for Presley.”
The late model died aged just 27, with reports suggesting is may have been related to an overdose after Santa Monica Police Department officers were dispatched to a Santa Monica, California rehab facility.
Allegedly, the A-lister’s child had checked in for treatment on the same weekend he passed away.
According to Page Six, Cindy has been “devastated” and “inconsolable” since she lost her eldest child. A source told the entertainment publication: “They were so close.
“What you saw online and in the press wasn’t just for that purpose. They were a tight-knit family and [sister] Kaia and Presley were more than just siblings. Cindy has to be beyond gutted.”
According to a second source: “Cindy is inconsolable. She’s absolutely devastated. This is every parent’s worst nightmare, and the family is still trying to process everything that happened.”
Like his sister, Presley followed in his mom’s footsteps and began modeling at the age of 15 in 2015. His runway debut was for Italian label Moschino; Presley went on to model for brands including Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana, and Bottega Veneta.
Presley first opened up about his substance abuse by recalling a near-fatal fentanyl overdose in 2024. Shortly after, he checked into rehab to undergo treatment.
